A quick perusal

There is no such thing. This is an oxymoron. “Perusal” is one of those funny words that sound like they should mean the opposite of their actual meanings. “Perusal” sounds like a quick scan, but it actually means a thorough examining.

The NY data shows that the virus itself is a lot worse than the flu.

The rest of the US data shows that normal R0 in those areas might not require many mitigation steps to keep this thing progressing slowly.

correct

If the hardest hit area was far less important and had a much, much lower population... we’d get back to normal quicker

This is a good point. One solution does not fit all places. That’s the beauty of federalism. Let the governors and mayors decide what’s best in each place.

Another problem is New York City has a larger percentage of Chinese American citizens than even LA or San Francisco.
What does this have to do with it? These people are just as likely to transmit the virus as any other citizen of New York City is. And as you pointed out, they are Chinese AMERICANS. Let them live their lives in peace instead of passing as the blame.

Believe all the conspiracies you want about the Chinese government creating, spreading, and/or downplaying the virus. But blaming innocent Americans for living in America is not acceptable.

But Google and the failing NYT said blue states are doing a great job of social distancing and it's stupid teabagging republitards spreading the virus.

Truth.

The alternatives from the South just don’t work for me.

I’m actually a cradle Cardinals fan (like many older Southerners)

KMOX 1120 AM with Jack Buck & Harry Carey

The Braves & Astros didn’t hold a candle to the Cardinals.

This is so very true. Or like, Lincoln Nebraska or Wichita Kansas.

I imagine that if a city like Lincoln, Wichita, Denver, or Kansas City were getting hit like NY/NJ a good portion of the country would start taking it more seriously.

Cute, but Wyoming never issued a stay-at-home order. Just FYI -- of all the states to pick, this one was a bad example.

It’s the Poliboard way......they are bored over there and have now infected the OT.

I’d like to be wrong, but that board has quite a few bigots.

Why do some of you keep bringing up New Orleans like it’s still having problems. It’s been on the backside of this for weeks and the task forces used it as example of a city that is showing a dramatic decline.

Yes, but "Financial Capital" doesn't resonate to some in world like Mainstreet USA and "regular people".
