A problem with the Toyota is that they are all hybrids. Those batteries have to go somewhere. They stuff them under the third row, above a non independent live axle and third row room, cargo room suffers. It’s really small. Wife has a Wagoneer and the third row is long distance comfortable for adults. My 16yo prefers it back there.

I am wanting one of the new Sequoia vehicles. I have owned 2 in the past. The body style and interior got old and was due an upgrade. I plan on getting one sometime next year or two. The new one can tow up to 10k lbs and gets roughly 22-24 mpg. I think the TRD model will do a little less than that, roughly 18-20 mpg. That’s not bad for a large SUV. The change over to the V6 is not that big of a deal based on the new engine which delivers 437 horsepower and 583 lb. -ft. of torque.

This is the one I want

The misconception with toyota is that they’re quality is that much greater.

The only vehicle still produced in Japan is the 4runner.
The rest are as American as GM and Ford

The quality of the design and components are better.

While many of the US market Toyota are assembled in the US they have many higher quality parts:
-Aisin transmissions and transfer cases
-Denso electronics
-other higher quality Domestic and foreign sub suppliers

Additionally, Toyota uses SAE standards to rate their vehicles towing and GVWR capacity. Ford and GM make up their own standards for these specs.

Ford and GM sub out components to the lowest bidders in Mexico or produce them in house at lower quality.

Drove a 2008 Sequoia for 11 years. Was still running great, but wanted a more modern vehicle with better tech. Gave it to my father who needed a vehicle. It's still running fine with over 200K miles.

Bought a 2019 Ford Expedition three years ago. Hard decision between the Sequoia and the Expedition, but I chose the ford because the safety features and technology was far superior than the Sequoia. Will admit, I would have stayed with Toyota if they had made any interior upgrades or tech improvements since 2008, but it was essentially the same. I think the 2022 models have improved, but I haven't researched them.

No issues with the Ford as its running fine. Time will tell if I made the right decision.

I think you can't go wrong with either choice.
