Then I'd get the Sequoia. I'm gonna have to go look and see what the new tech looks like.

Not a fan of the no V8 option on the Toyota.

Not a fan of Ford's fricked up spray on cylinder liners in their V8 or the poor long term reliability of the Ecoboost line (only took them 10 years to get it halfway sorted out).

Whose engineering team do I trust more?

Toyota.

Sadly...

This is the answer of a 16 year old girl. What do you want: a 17-inch iPad in your dash or a car that will reliably last 250k+ miles, lol.

New land cruiser is supposedly sharing tundra/sequoia running gear. It's no longer available in the US.

Land cruisers are legendary vehicles, but expeditions are also relatively long-lived vehicles compared to everything else that isn't a land cruiser. Land cruisers lasted forever because they were relatively simple mechanically, underpowered and got horrible fuel economy. Toyota is now deviating from that formula.

Also they are on a new chassis that will be shared with the new Tacoma next year. That’s why they look not as tall as other similar sized vehicles.

Yeah this is not true. The 23 sequoia shares the same frame as the Tundra (maybe that’s what you meant?) and the land cruiser. It’s much bigger than the Tacoma.

The number of people that buy a new vehicle planning to keep it long enough to put 250k on it is miniscule.

I’ll never buy another Ford after all the problems I had with my F-150 and the almost daily recall announcements for Fords and Lincolns. I don’t love the redesigned Sequoias and I definitely don’t love the price, but that would be my choice 10/10 times

Depends on your family situation. But we have a family with kids, and in-laws, so we bought the Ford Limited Expedition Max, especially for road trips to Colorado. That’s worked out pretty well on the long drives.

The comparison I’d care about is the cubic feet of interior passenger room.

Your response is actually one of an immature child. If I'm spending that kind of money I want both reliability and great tech. You're an idiot if you're trying to convince me that you think Toyota tech was great. It was shite.

I'm happy they've upgraded it.

We just bought a 22 expedition timberline.

Toyota reliability is overrated af. Lot of fanboys in their tacos and 4 runners on the OT though.

Mixed bag as far as I am concerned.

There are some early teething problems with some of the wastegates failing on the turbochargers.

Is this a major failure mode across the board? I dont think so. But still not a good thing...

To get to the turbochargers requires cab removal (how they decided to copy Ford on this I'll never understand) or sliding the motor back an inch or so by taking out the motor mounts.

Is the the Toyota turbo V6 a piece of junk? I doubt it since they have used the platform in other models.

Is it as reliable as the previous 5.7L V8? I seriously doubt it, but time will tell.

The buying public is the experiment these days...

I would be hesitant on the sequoia now—new design, new platform. Would wait a year for them to work the kinks out. That said, given the two options, I’d pick the sequoia.

Sequoia if you value reliability. I’ve never seen a sequoia not last over 200k miles. Ford if you value third row legroom and cargo space. The new sequoia has minimal cargo space behind the third row from what I’ve seen, much less than previous generations.
