Just made this decision. Went with ford. It’s on order.

Toyota only available as hybrid. Not plug in, regenerative only.

Toyota 3rd row seat doesn’t fold flat. Blocks cargo area. Can’t be removed because it sits over hybrid batteries.

Since the 3rd row seat in the sequoia is raised (to cover hybrid batteries) there really isn’t headroom for even a smallish adults to ride comfortably.

Switches to gas above 17 mph. I never drive below 17mph so I wouldn’t get the benefits of the hybrid(batteries) system for the added complexity and (seating/ cargo) limitations that come with it.

I didn’t want a full size SUV that doesn’t have cargo space to haul a generator, washer/ dryer , table saw, 100 qrt ice chest etc.

I also don't like to carry car keys so the ford keyless entry is preferable to me.

Edit: this will be my 4th expedition. Over 200 k miles on last 3 with no issues whatsoever and i don’t maintain them very well.

Edit 2: i wanted to buy the sequoia to get something different, but it has too many limitations for cargo space.

Are you serious Clark?!?
Toyota every day of the week. Don’t be shocked when stupid things break like the power lift gate.

One would think Ford and GM hardly sell any trucks reading this place. (Sales numbers show a very different story.) Comical how the fanboiz come out of the woodwork in every one of these threads.

Sequoia. In fact, we're going to buy a new one in the not too distant future.

Currently have a 2013 F-150 Platinum.

It’s hilarious

These are all from 2022. I currently have three Fords 2021-2022. Has there been recalls? Sure. Toyota is living off of 90s reputation of reliability. Resale value? Check the book value of a higher trim level F150.

I'd bet you could count on one hand the number of Sequoia owners on this forum. Yet here comes the cult with their "recommendations".

Yeah Toyota/ Lexus aren’t immune from recalls, especially 1st model year ones… BUT Toyota actually fixes these issues so they don’t happen again. That’s why Toyota/Lexus make the most reliable vehicles on the planet.
Now do Ford & tell us why they have constant drivetrain & reliability issues across most product lines.

Yeah this is not true. The 23 sequoia shares the same frame as the Tundra (maybe that’s what you meant?) and the land cruiser. It’s much bigger than the Tacoma.

The new Tundra will share the same chassis design as the new Tacoma that will come out next year. The length of the new Tacoma will be shorter than the new Tundra.

This is a fact not speculation. There was a detailed article about 1.5 years ago in Automotive News which is the trade journal for OEMs, dealers and suppliers.

I’ve owned 5 F-150s. 2008 and 2010 with the 5.4, 2014, 2017 and 2021 with the 5.0. I’ve never had an issue with any of them. Ford has fixed every recall.

I also have a 2021 Mach 1, again zero issues.

I’ve owned BMWs, Porsche, Honda, Chevy. They all have their issues. Ford trucks are the best selling trucks so naturally when there is an issue it is more widespread. People aren’t buying ford because they’re gluttons for punishment. In the end, buy what you like and what makes sense.

The BS about how Toyotas are head and shoulders more reliable isn’t the case in 2022.

Give me the Suburban or Yukon XL with the Duramax 6 Diesel. 24 MPG. I have a 2022. On my 5-6th Suburban/Yukon XL. Put about 200,000 on each. Never a problem. Last 2 never even had to do a brake job.

So you are claiming you put 200k on each of the last 3 expeditions (total=600k+) with minimal repairs and lackluster maintenance?

Color me skeptical....

I'm not a Toyota fanboi but your ownership experience doesn't seem typical...

I’m with the OP 2011 F150 Ecoboost (289k miles changed the flex plate at 260k teeth wore down which is expected) didn’t get the start up rattle from the cam phasers until 250k traded it in without fixing big.

2015 f150 Ecoboost 296K only changed a water pump at 210k and a battery. Random Cam phaser rattle started around 200k never fixed it

2020 expedition Ecoboost currently knocking on 170k (cam phaser rattle fixed under warranty 60k) battery at 150k. Other then that rolling still shooting for 300k on this one.

Screw buying new. Also, screw turbos on a daily driver. Find the cleanest used Sequoia with the naturally aspirated 5.7L that you can.
