getting ready to pull the plug in a couple of years, we're going to live outside the US for a couple of years, maybe start in Thailand, possibly Europe next, whatever we want to do next, lots of world out there to enjoy

My GF has a house in Indonesia so we're considering splitting our time between USA and there. Not sure if I'll like it or not but there are parts of it that's beautiful.

I’m in Greece right now (not subtle at all) and it’s pretty fantastic. Santorini is like a post card everywhere you look.

I mean I'm not leaving. But since we're just talking hypothetically, Prague looks like my kind of place- for at least two reasons.

Belize. Beautiful country, English is the primary language, and it's cheap as hell.

Tons of US expats there already as well.

Ireland or Australia

Ireland has the benefit of being near England, Scotland, and the rest of Western Europe, all of which are worth visiting but where I wouldn’t want to live for various reasons including climate and/or language. (Scotland is nice but I would freeze my balls off in the winter. Germany is nice but I don’t speak German and I don’t pick up languages easily.)

Australia has the benefit of having extended family there as well as having plenty to do and making all of Southeast Asia accessible within a reasonable flight time compared to the US.

Seriously doubt that.

Eastern Euro chicks are the real reason the Russians held on to that "Iron Curtain" as long as they did.

Ireland. Unlike Australia, not everything is trying to kill you there.

Yeah, my (distant) cousin had talked about all the birds there trying to claw your eyes out. Not even going into other problems like all the venomous shite.

Greenland, so that way I could be back in the US in a few years

Haven't traveled too much outside of the US, so I would have to go with Canada.
Netherlands would be my top choice, but my allergies were unbearable when I was there.

A few years ago I spent two weeks there. Was visiting a winery in the Hunter Valley outside of Sydney and went to sit under a nice shady tree since it was pretty hot. The owner turns around and sees me and says "you need to move. There are brown snakes in that tree."

Ya, the brown snakes that if they bite you, you're dead in seconds.

I was paranoid as hell around every tree after that.
