my only theory was to let airbnb run rampant for the next ~10 years, become a total tourist city, which would then price the culcha completely out - but that ship has sailed.

Politicians like Mitch and LaToya Cantrell lose power when poor folk are moved out, they'd rather rule over a garbage pile than see the city prosper.

Bring back Carlos Marcello, or a comparable replacement. Life was better when the crime was organized.

Who was the fix the damn roads guy?

Has he made it in yet?

He'd have my vote for mayor if I was in Nola.

plus, ive noticed a lot of the new candidates are running on increasing low-income housing availability so the trend is set to continue

I really think pols like Mitch and SWB really don't give a shite about crime as long as it doesn't directly affect tourism or commerce. If anything, it hastens the exodus of people who are likely to vote against them. Sure, taxes may go down but in the end their salaries and cronies are not affected, just the services that citizens depend on.

Education seems would cover most of those issues in some capacity.

That would take several generations. That is too long.

I would ship everyone who has been unemployed for more than 2 year to a fema camp in the middle of the Arizona desert. You would see a drastic drop in crime.

I'd fix a race at the Fairgrounds and use the winnings to retire and move away from NOLA.

The one you didn't list - corruption.

That's what I would fix. Get rid of the political corruption, and I think several of the other problems would improve.
