NEAR the speed of light it would only take 3500 years to travel 2.5 million light years?

Yeah, I was wondering about that myself

Phrased it sloppily.

As far as the ship is concerned it will take 3500 years.

The 2.5 million years would pass on earth though.

Invent a hyperdrive. They go faster than the speed of light.

Give it ludicrous speed and get there and even faster.

Problem solved.

Still not fast enough to leave our own Galaxy.

The Milky Way is a barred spiral galaxy approximately 100,000 to 200,000 light-years in diameter and about 1,000 light-years thick.

But if you go faster than the speed of light, time reverses. Possible? If you're on a craft traveling light speed, and you run from the back to the front, did you not travel faster than the speed of light?

It's impossible but hypothetically you are still moving forward through time.

If you walk down the aisle of an aircraft in flight are you moving faster than the aircraft?

But seriously, have you thought about it? According to Einstein's special theory of relativity:

1.) If we ever built a craft with the ability to travel close to the speed of light (the only way we're making it to other galaxies)...
2.) Time would pass so much more quickly for everyone on earth, relative to the astronauts on board the ship...
3.) By the time the crew visited and returned from another galaxy - everyone involved in the project would have been dead for generations. I guess the crew could talk to the great-great-great-great-grandkids of the people who designed the mission.

Look into time dilation, it would actually be the opposite.

Watched Mario Galaxy today, and based on that logic alone, I disagree with your theory.

If you can just be patient and wait a few billion years, the Andromeda galaxy will come to us.

What if we manage to find a way to travel faster than the speed of light?

A little closer. So according to the crazy math, the ship can get there in a few weeks.

I think you may not be retarded, but just ignorant about time dilation with speed. There’s also time dilation with gravity but that’s another topic.

Incorrect. Time slows down for you as your speed increases relative to people on Earth as you travel. At the speed of light, your clock actually stops ticking and you can travel to anywhere in the universe instantly.

Take a look at this scene in The Time Machine. It’s kinda like this. Time is moving slower than outside the machine.

2 things:

1) speed of light isn't actually a limit as all points of space and time are connected
2) Quantum entanglement allows instantaneous communication across any expanse of the universe.

No it doesn’t.
