2002 LSU Baseball Alumni Game

Posted by Joev1 on 7/3/26 at 5:58 pm
I remember going to this. 2002 squad vs alumni players in the old box. Would love to see a present day version.

My wife’s grandfather was a Korean War vet. Loved talking to him about it before he had Alzheimer’s and eventually passed. Great man. His wife is still around (92 I think) and very sharp
I think an MIS or BA degree would be great if staying around Texas. Lots of great jobs at companies where tech role is more about supporting the business than being a tech first company. Understanding business processes can help in deeply understanding the software businesses use (ERP/CRM systems, BI and Analytics). Could help in understanding the gaps that need to be filled by custom apps or tooling.

Main things we look for in candidates are:

1. Basic coding fundamentals. You don’t need to know everything, but you need to demonstrate you can write clean, readable code and understand why it works.
2. Ability to learn and grow independently or with little guidance.
3. Soft skills (know how to communicate, problem solving)
4. Most importantly, just be a cool. We spend more time with our dev team than our own families so we have to enjoy being around each other

I’d pay more attention to BB/9
I’m loving ABS. I hate the argument that it takes the human element out of the game. Nobody’s buying tickets to watch the umps. Adds accuracy and excitement to the game
What’s frustrating is that almost all of our arms have fewer hits than innings pitched and much more strikeouts than innings pitched. These are SEC quality arms when they are in the zone. The walks are just out of control and a pitching coach making the money Yeskie is making should be able to get the number of walks per game trending in the right direction

Why play so deep???

We could be up 15 feet and still have no problem catching balls at the wall
Is this graph saying that I drank all 4 drinks at the same time and immediately had a bac over .08?
Not so much a keyboard shortcut but double click the small box in the bottom corner of an excel cell to fill in formulas to the bottom of the table instead of having to drag for thousands of cells

I think we’re dealing with a team that isn’t as hungry as past teams. A few Nattys in a 3 year period can make a kid think he doesn’t need to get early work in before games
If time machines ever exist, it would mean that they always existed
Let’s just not walk guys and start there. Not asking for too much. Fastballs don’t need to be faster. Curveballs don’t need more break. Strikeouts can even go down. Just DONT WALK GUYS
Runs scored on wild pitches was crazy too
Possibly the greatest pitcher of all time by the time he hangs it up against an all star lineup for a chance to advance to the championship. Skene’s love for his country just amplifies it
That embarrassment on that stage is the kind of thing that makes a player kick it into another gear in the offseason. Hope he comes back better than ever next year
Would be cool to see a night game in spring. Seems like it would be good for new guys to play under the lights in front of fans as well prior to the season
Me and Packer once picked up this set of twins, and as a joke, Packer told them we were brothers. We took them back to a motel and, you know, one thing led to another, and Packer banged them both. It was awesome
