If you hear that white collar employees, that’s a person on their way to failure and they know it.

The person that sees the inside of a Board Room when they empty a trash can.

The person that bitches all day and doesn’t have the background to change their path.

Union up.

Limited jobs in Union. Nationally only about 25% of plumbers are union. In the South that number is less than half that.

Though that doesn't stop everyone who is ignorantly promoting the trades to cite wages and benefits of only Union guys.

'Office worker" is pretty broad. A dude working in HR might be bored to tears and unfulfilled.

There should be some kind of collective available to assist with that, I wonder what that could've been this whole time

Office work can be soul crushing too. There is an entire movie based on the soulless office life.

If I was a tradesman, I would be on my own. Everyone I deal with is self employed and does very well.

This plumber is right. So 111 pencil pushers downvoted so far. I’ve said many times on here to different threads on retirement age increases to “save” social security, that might sound good for college educated white collar jobs but not so much for those doing physical labor.

I can’t speak to the issue raised about private equity buying plumbing and other blue collar companies, but it would not surprise me. 80% of doctors today work for hospitals compared to 20% 20 years ago. Thank you black Jesus for that, you Kenyan Marxist bastard.

Anyway, respect the tradesmen for what they do. Learn to code? How about learning how to do something worthwhile without denigrating other professions with your ignorance and bias.

You didn’t camera the line to see where the break was? A lot of sewer lines can be 5-6 feet deep and that’s a bitch.

I replace about 15-20 sewer lines per year. My plumber is a good guy. Not educated and has a hard time reading and writing, but I pay him at least $1,000 per week. That’s good money from just one customer. He’s really cheap but most real companies charge $100/linear foot to replace seeer lines in my town. So 50 feet would be $5,000 to a big company. He’ll do it for about $1,000 and we buy the materials.

Last really hard freeze we had, a plumber was going around neighborhoods charging 75$ to turn off people's water whose pipes had busted. He probably made a couple thousand for an afternoon's work.

Why are tradies obsessed with office workers? Nobody in white collar professions has beef with yall.

It’s probably because the “office worker” is on salary, works 50-60 hours a week, and when he figures out his “hourly” pay then compares it to the plumber/electrician/mechanic he realizes that he’s getting fricked in the transaction.* Especially when he realizes how much he paid for his effectively meaningless education and all the corporate “office worker” politics and bullshite he’s put up with to get to where he is.

So the office worker makes a throw away comment about how he wishes he got paid like that and the OP takes it personal.

Plumbers are worth every dollar they charge and then some.

Some folks have no respect for a toilet.

Come out here to Denver, there's a company called Apex buying up every plumbing company willing to sell

A few of the bigger HVAC companies have been bought out by a PE company recently around here. The PE company is trying to merge two or three of the companies they have purchased and it sounds like a shite show.
In the past it seemed to be one trade company buying a smaller company and this was ok.

PE ruins companies as they squeeze all the $$$ they can out of it.
