If I could do it all over again, I'd be a personal injury attorney

Those guys must make a killing in a state like Louisiana. Think about it for a moment.
Minimum liability requirement in Louisiana is $15,000. Literally 90% of drivers on the road are looking at their phone while driving and a large number of them are slamming into the back of people at stop lights, intersections, etc.. If you've ever been rear ended, you know it doesn't take much to actually make you sore and hurt for a while afterwards and that's just from minor accidents. Think of how many car accidents result in broken bones, lacerations, torn ligaments/tendons, etc..
A person who goes to the doctor and has just soft tissue injuries that gets them referred to therapy for 3-4 weeks is usually going to end up exhausting the other guy's minimum liability limits if they get a lawyer who knows the ins and outs of the law.
$15,000 x 33% is $4,950 and that's assuming 100% of your stand-up, productive members of society clients just have minor injuries AND the other guy only has minimum coverage.
Now lets assume you're in a city like Baton Rouge and gain probably 3 new clients a week. That's 4,950x3 = $14,850 a week, on average, once all those cases begin to be settled. $772,200 a year would be enough to make me want to work with the lowest denominator of society for a living.
Am I wrong here? I'm ignorant to the personal injury law field so I could be completely missing something but my goodness I chose the wrong field to go into. I know we have more than a few resident OT lawyers who post here so tell me if I'm missing something here. Tell me why I shouldn't go to law school.

I bet they make a killing in Las Vegas. I was in Las Vegas a few weeks ago and that's all I saw for commercials on TV and on the radio.
I still even remember one of the jingles:
Attorney Glen Lerner is the way to go
Call 8-7-7-1-5-0-0

Are you under the impression that insurance companies just pay there limits regardless of circumstances or injuries?
That isn't the case, at all.

I sang this to the same tune Spencer Callahan uses for his phone number. "Call 387 2323"
Say what you want but jingles freaking work.

Barely above OT Poverty level - which is why Personal Injury attourneys are despised here. Poors.

You're missing the huge advertising costs to keep volume up.

I guess some of us have personal integrity and no amount of money is worth selling yourself out to the public for the shame that goes with it.

Because the reality is you don’t want to interact with the kind of person who calls a billboard or television lawyer after a fender bender.
It’s a drain. They want loans from day one. And they are NEVER satisfied.

if you do well, you do really well as a personal injury attorney.
I have some friends that are solo or in small firms that do mostly personal injury stuff. They barely survive. And they hate it.
Hell I know a ton of lawyers and I have to say they generally hate the law. I can only think of two lawyer friends that truly love the law. Most of them feel conned about becoming a lawyer.

you're not gonna get 15k for a fender bender.

The key is getting on with an established firm where they pay the advertising and overhead and you can just practice.
If you're at a firm where the volume is there, you can turn down shitty cases and shitty clients. That's a nice place to be.
You have to learn to deal with jokes and people thinking you're scum, but if you do it right, you can really help folks who need it.

This nails it.

You'd probably have enough time to teach your son to ride a bike.

Personal Injury attorneys are going to be in a world of hurt when driverless vehicles start taking over in the next 5-10 years and auto accidents plummet.
