Would you still be a personal injury lawyer?

It happens but it's not the norm.

I think I would. I'd just choose not to do the advance BS and get a bit of a "better" clientele. The money is there and one day I dream of being a real OT baw.

Go for it, you'd be a hollow piece of shite that everyone hates. Gordon Mckernan, Morris Bart, the lot of them can suck a huge dick. They don't give a single frick about Louisianans. That is obvious in how they are simply destroying any small to moderate sized business that has an auto exposure.

ETA: Solicitation is also supposed to be against the laws of ethics within the bar, however I have heard of numerous individuals who have gotten in workplace accidents, only to have Plaintiff Atty assistants barrage them with solicitation calls. "I know you're fine now, but what about in 6 months. You don't want to leave these things to chance." An actual quote I got from a former injured worker. He did not bring suit, fortunately. It was a sprained ankle

Don't hate them. Hate the law and how it's written. Lawyers are just making a living off of following the law. I don't blame them.

He's right to a certain extent. There are some weak areas of the law that the big mills take advantage of. You have essentially three tiers of personal injury firm: Massive mills like Gordon and Morris, mid-level shops like where I'm at, and solo guys and gals just taking whatever comes in the door.

Are those two things mutually exclusive with John Bel Edwards, Atty at law, in the governors mansion?

Nobody lost their shite over that accident. It was a homeless person crossing outside a crosswalk at night. The vehicle was not at fault.

That happens all the time in Texas and it’s very common the insurance defense blows it at trial. Juries are unpredictable.

Sure they are, especially with soft tissue injuries that an Ortho can't say one way or another if there is any damage and doesn't show up on an MRI but they "claim" to be injured anyway.

Also, just to clarify my point about small business from earlier. Say you want to start a dump truck company. You save up some money, buy yourself a truck, start getting things together. You find out that you need insurance, so you call into a shop to see what you could get for your truck.

That's when you find out that, at a bare minimum, you are looking at $15,000/6 months for one truck. So $30,000/year, that is a minimum figure, assuming good MVR's.

How about another example? Say you're a logger in north LA and you get into an accident. Your carrier decides that the risk is no longer worth it, so you ge dropped. It is only when you start looking around that you realize there is not one, NOT ONE, carrier in Louisiana who is writing new logging accounts. So, if you're a logger in north LA and you get dropped, then you no longer have a business

My attorney branched into personal injury about 20 years ago.

It now makes up 90% of his business. He only deals with anything else for long-term clients.

The guy has a rather unassuming suite on bluebonnet he makes 3-4 million a year and the majority of what he does these days are simple form letters his secretary fills out for him.

I missed my calling.
