Baloney! The consensus you refer to is the consensus of media REPORTING what is the consensus of scientists. I once chaired a debate between two prominent climatologists, one an alarmist and one a skeptic. This was about 15 years ago. One is still prominent in the debate. I was surprised how much they agreed on. Neither would have made the claim you made.

The difference in trending is less that it is at higher temps at a given location.
And more that it is hotter everywhere at once.
A localized record is nothing. I can’t remember the last time pretty much the entire northern hemisphere was in a heat wave.
I don’t buy into the radical push of how “this must be fixed at all
Costs!” but the head in the sand spin from the other side that this year is completely normal and not out of ordinary would be a hilarious if it wasn’t a little scary.

You do know that with enough measurements you can determine rate and direction before whatever arbitrary length of time you decide is "climate", right?
I can let you measure temperatures every 10 seconds. You can get all kind of data if you do it for 20 years and you still can’t determine if the climate is heating up or cooling off because it’s not a long enough duration.
