18Z Euro is WAY north so far. And look at that trough!
Damn Europeans giving us hope. I don't trust them.
Euro too aggressive East, GFS too aggressive West, meeting in the middle over Tampa Bay.

Some intense convection on the southwest side of 98L
Because of Fiona's outflow still. Lots of shear but that will be gone tomorrow and then it's on.

Would be an interesting turn of events after everyone has already declared 98L to be the "big one" for this season. Would remind a lot of people to let things get farther along before hitting the "doom button"
I remember maybe 3/4 years ago we had a 50 page thread with doom cane model runs. System never made it over Haiti.

That front has been predicted to get south of Tampa for more than a week. This time of year they typically stall over the peninsula. There isn't enough time for another trough to come behind it to tug on 98L. That gif you posted verifies what the Euro is seeing pretty well.

So Louisiana gets a spare? You’re predicting?

I prefer that outcome of course but thats just not dispersive enough. No members in the Yucatan Channel? nvm... 2 weak ones
Good trend is good though.

I don't predict - I leave that to rds, Duke, Legend and other experts. I like that Total Precipitable Water gif ever since someone posted it several years ago. It really shows the big picture of airmass flow.
But things are looking a bit better for central Gulf coast. Still too early to relax though.
