I can tell you really want to stay and you are just looking for a single shred of confirmation bias in this thread but that isn’t going to come your way. Most people here likely had your same thoughts But then ride through a direct hit and decided never again. If you stay that’s your own choice- we are all saying GTFO

Keep on shifting south, that's fine.

On surges associated with Katrina:

Get enough water, and back surges happen. Too high to flood? Not all that predictable, when a flooding river (like the Wolf River over in MS) had no place to drain to (met a hurricane surge) and the Wolf River turned into a backed up surge.

Also means that AMI/Holmes/LBK won't get the direct rotational force from the Gulf.

Its a crapshot at this point. They could get it from the from the gulfside or water pushed into the pass and surge from the bayside. Either way, I'm fully expecting feet of water as the house is on the bayside of LBK and only elevated about 2 feet. When they built these homes in the 60s they didn't really consider the fact that they are surrounded by water.

My mom said that he was like a wild animal ... his wife kept saying "let's go on vacation to the beach" after it was over .. he just finally left and went to the camp and chilled for many, many days.

We had some Oklahoma folks cook and bring us jambalaya while working in the PMAC (basketball arena) on LSU's campus after Katrina. Being cooked by Oklahoma folks it was rather bland, but it's the thought that counts.

That could be huge for Tampa from a wind perspective. Not sure about surge.

Surge = Less
Wind = Higher
Rainfall = Catastrophic

Unless the southern track is more significant, Tamps is still getting really bad weather for Ian.

No doubt the weather is still going to suck, but at least you don't have the winds pushing all that water up into the bay

Higher wind than a direct hit? Hows that?

Do we have a name for this one?

OZ: 10:30pm - ?
6Z: 4:30am - Morning Wood GFS
12Z: 10:30am - ?
18Z: 4:30pm - Happy Hour GFS

How’d she get stuck with pets if she didn’t like them? Poor thing.

Can't speak for her hospital, but if we aren't directly involved in patient care we get assigned other jobs to do while on station. They aren't going to pay us just for being there, we're gonna be sweeping floors or cleaning something no matter what our normal job is.

40+ inches of rain isn't just sucky weather, it's nearly as bad as a significant surge event. It's just trading one for another.

Unless the track shifts south more, which it very well could. Wobble watching mode is now meaning ful as Ian exits Cuba.

Pets are definitely Better than cleaning, imo

Va, you may need to store that wine higher up? I really hope not.

how confident are you in the roof system of 145mph gusts?

Not very.

I’m trying to find data on winds from hurricanes that we’ve been through already. This building was built in the 70’s, so not ideal. But I’m not sold on these winds being worse than what we’ve already experienced.
