And people who throw used diapers on the side of the road are the trasiest people on the planet.

Why don’t you anyway. Plenty of issues other than litter.

I am having the same issue in Union County, and the county has tried to fine me. They throw all the trash in the gulley and I pull out what I can but I don’t have a tractor. I leave it in the road and call SCDOT to come get it. I’ve got cameras up now to try and get some license plates.

I live across from a ball park and I can fill a 5 gallon bucket from my front yard with beer cans and bottles, the occasional dirty diaper, fast food trash, and various other crap weekly. It’s disturbing honestly.

B/c the roads are cleaner in Mississippi, Ar-Kansas and Beaumont?

Actually I do find rural roads in Texas to be very trash free. I lived in Beaumont for years and when I first moved there I remember telling someone how amazed I was that there was not any trash along the highways. It stood out so much because sadly trash is so common in every other state I’ve lived. If you take Hwy 105 or Hwy 90 west out of Beaumont you won’t see hardly any road side trash. Take any highway in Alabama and you will see cups, bottles, boxes, 5 gallon buckets every 50 feet. Hwy 25 from Leeds to Vandiver is a beautiful drive with winding roads going up and over Oak Mountain but I avoid it because the trash is so depressing.

Nothing makes my blood boil like watching a vehicle leaving a gas station with trash cans everywhere, steadily throwing shite out their windows. And although I’ve avoided the Mall on Bluebonnet like the plague for years, the last I went, the parking lot looked like a landfill.

People in Louisiana are pigs, some combination of low IQ, upbringing, and DGAF.

We live out in the county and I have to pick up trash that people throw out along our property. Both sides of the road end up being almost a mile and half! I end up picking up an average of 2 - 5 gal. buckets of whisky bottles, Sonic bags, vape canisters, Red Bull Cans, Natural Light Cans, dip cans, etc. weekly. Someone even dumped at the edge of the property a mattress, box springs, bed frame and end tables. I wish I could catch someone backing up their truck and dumping something! It won't be pretty!

Littering is akin to not returning your cart at the grocery store. It identifies to the rest of us what a self-important piece of shite you are.

Worse in my opinion. Clogs up the drains (especially in Louisiana) and can contaminate the water and soil if it gets bad enough.

Both are bad but to me littering is way worse. It’s the ultimate trashy thing one can do.

There is always an excuse. Always. Just remember your kids are watching you be a lazy, self centered sack of shite. I get that some of you live in Vice City, but fifteen seconds pushing a cart back isn't enough time for them to get heat stroke before you start the car.

Yes, poor dumbasses throw shite out the window, but have you watched the garbage trucks on the interstate? Half the shite on the road is from trash flying out the top of the trucks. Go to the end of 110 on the way to Zachary where the dump is. All that trash is from the trucks. The parish cleans it like once a week.

Feel ya, Warden (but MORE cams? $5k fines? I'd go more with Community Service and them picking up trash in orange jumpsuits for a month.)

Years ago I was stopped at a traffic light at a major town thoroughfare; a car slowed down right next to me in the right lane and a chick dumped her cigarette butt out the window. I hand-gestured , "Come on man!". The chick embarrassed, apologized with her hands and we both drove off.

Next day, SAME time. SAME traffic light stop. SAME car. Very same chick did the exact same thing -- dumped her cigarette butt out the window. She looked up and over, spotting yours truly again shaking his head at her litter "sin". She could not believe it the coincidence. neither could I.

That's not the only problem genius. Now when someone parks there, they have to move it or risk their vehicle getting hit by it while they're shopping.

This for sure, and it's been like that for ages. Back in the mid 70's I was married to a gal from Dallas and we'd drive there to visit her family a couple times a year.

The very first thing I'd notice when returning to N.O. was the amount of trash on the streets and it showed me a big difference in the mentality of the residents of the two cities.

I wish I had a dollar for all the times I've seem someone stopped at a red light and they let the window down to dump trash on the street.

A majority of the people littering are the same ones who ride around without insurance or any regard for public decency.

You think they'll care about some fines they won't pay?

You always know when you're in a poorer area just by scanning the side of the road

This is a Louisiana or southern thing. When I lived in Seattle I was always confused on the area of town I was in because there was a lack of litter everywhere. I'm sure its changed now with the homeless epidemic but in the late 90's the poor areas were as clean as the wealthy.

To the OP post I agree litter drives me nuts. I put myself through college cutting grass, everywhere we went we spent the first 10-15 mins just picking up litter
