Large shirt (shoulders don't fit a medium), 31' waist. I have to buy 32' waist pants for many brands though because they make the area for my package too small

Nah I get it. I'm the same weight as you and an inch taller. I wear a 32" or 33" waist depending on the brand but lots of the newer styles are really tight in the crotch. They button fine but the crotch is really tight. I think that it's because the waist is lower so maybe you're supposed to let them hang. But what would I know?

The ONLY pants that fit me really good are Lee's brand pants. fricking Lee's. Who would have damn thunk that? These Lee's fit amazingly

Men's clothing is ridiculous.
I'm 5' 11" and 180 lbs. Pants are not really the problem. they can be altered--it is the shirts that piss me off.

Damn near every store you listed is either for the toothpick body style or wide shoulder skinny waist style. I was 195# at 5'9 w a 32" waist and could barely fit in those style shirts. American Eagle had the better cut IMO.

For your shirts you can buy Large Tall. Even though you're not considered tall (it's >6'2) you may like how it fits. Typically the tall version of shirts are a little wider, longer sleeves and longer tail.

Mens clothes right now are made for men with no chest and a flat arse, regardless of what size you wear.

I feel you man. I am 190 and I stand 5'7, but I don't LOOK fat. I actually wear XL shirts just because they fit better. As far as pants go, my issue isn't with the waist size as I can just buy a 36 and wear a belt, but more or less the length. They don't make 36x28s or anything that fit my legs. so all of my pants are shredded at the bottom because they drag on the ground.

Dillard's has about 10 different cuts of Levi's ranging from skinny jeans to relaxed fit. Read the style descriptions and anyone that wears a 36 waist or smaller can find a pair of jeans that fits perfectly.

Go to Dillard's and get Hart Schaefer Marx expander waist pants. Nice slacks for everyday use, and I would think that you can find same in jeans. I'm like you, a tweener... Just have to be patient and find what fits best
