Based solely on the "every even year" piece, I'd say no.
Where do you get to use these 150,000 points? Can you use the 150,000 points over the course of both years, or just in the even year?

My neighbor is offering to transfer ownership of her timeshare to me at no cost. She has already paid it off, however I would be responsible for the annual fees which is approximately $1,000/yr. timeshare is through Wyndham. She said it is150,000 points annually and the points are valid every even year.
I don’t know much about timeshares but when I google it, pretty much every thing I read says stay away. But, it seems like so many people have a timeshare so it must not be all that bad?
Help me out here. Someone with timeshare experience give me some advice.
Probably not....but you could always book a popular date in a good location and rent it on Airbnb to make a little money.

Many people are idiots.
Several years ago I listened to a guy try to convince everyone around that him buying a Disney timeshare was worth the money, although he and his family had only gone twice in the five years he owned it (you have to book way in advance to use it during the popular times of year people go to Disney).
But you do what feels best for you,

how many nights will 150k points get you in destination citied that you'd be interested in seeing? How often do you travel?

There’s a reason why she wants to “give it to you” genius.
Say no thanks

I think this is the same thinking that caused the bubonic plague.

Well at least you know your neighbor hates you.

The reason why people have timeshares is bc they can't get out of them. The main question to ask : why is she offering to give it to you after it is paid off? It will cost you $1K a year.
After all the research you have done says stay away, why are you still asking for advice.

I have a client that does the time share thing and has for probably 30+ years. He and his wife love it. They go to Vegas, Hawaii, East Coast, West Coast and use it every year (maybe multiple times per year). I'm not sure who they are with, nor their points total. Granted they are not staying on the Strip in Vegas but are still in City Limits. Having it as long as he has, it has probably paid off for him in the long run.
Wife and I (no pics) sat through the Disney VC several years back. When I put pencil to paper it didn't work out for as little as we go even though we could "go to other destinations". Wife works with a someone who is a Disney VC member and her and her family love it. Granted they do Disney every year at least once if not twice.
All that to say not my cup of tea, but for some people it works out. If you are truly interested do some research on the properties available thru Windham. Also, is $1,000 all it costs to maintain 150,000 points (seems low to me). Someone suggested to think about the hotel rooms you can get for $1,000. IMHO not many for a full week at somewhere nice.

RVs and timeshares. Put the money you would spend on them each year in an account. Use it to stay at a fine hotel/condo when you want to travel. Come out ahead.
People use those things for a slice of their life (when kids are young, early retirement), but the timeshare maintenance fees and the RV insurance/maintenance go on forever.

This is weird. So you get 150,000 every year, pay $1000 a year even though you can’t use them every year. Only every other year?
I almost bought a fixed week one in orange beach for 5k in July. It was about a 1k a year in maintenance fees. But most condos for one week along the beach in the summer are 2-3k a week.

Depends. Do you plan on traveling enough to utilize it or not? Is it somewhere you want to go?
I swear some people on here lack critical thinking skills.

The Disney timeshare is the only one that holds its value. Most people plan on going to Disney at least 6 months to a year ahead anyway.
If you go at least once a year or every other year, you come out ahead. You must also enjoy staying at the high end resorts on grounds. If u don’t care about staying at an allstar resort or a Laquita inn, then it’s not worth it.
