I am in sales/customer service. I was looking because it was apparent my boss was doing all he could to get rid of me, he was abusive, and he may have been concerned he'd get reported.

Outside sales sucks.
You suck at it = fired
You’re good at it = house all your accounts, then fired.
I’d rather dig ditches.

.
Not at all. He was verbally abusive to me and a few others, me most of all. HR found out about it, but he continued. To save his hide, he changed paperwork and reporting to make it look like I was performing poorly, to get me fired so I could not report him for his continued abuse. In short, he is crazy, and while I think this is a blessing, It does not pay the bills.

I'm not saying it's always the case, but when someone says this, they were usually the problem.

I would be happy to help if this is legitimate. I work in HR and can offer some advice. We've all been through it at least once in our career.
Thanks! That's very kind. I am in my late 50's, and jobs in Louisiana are challenging to find if you are a bit older.

This is definitely false when you have an extreme pompous a-hole as a boss. He made my female coworkers balling cry and then another one of my coworkers had a panic attack when he was yelling at him. He fell back, hit his head on the ground and passed out. 911 was called, and an ambulance showed up with a stretcher. In front of 50 of his workers, he was strapped into a stretcher unconscious and taken to the ER. It's insane he wasn't fired. Now tell me, does that sound like a reasonable boss?
I got laid off by him. Was actually pretty decently happy after. Got an offer for 30% more next job and got a $10k raise within 6 months. I'm the same then as now. The dude was an a-hole whereas next employer very much values me. If you think unreasonable bosses don't exist, they do.

There are plenty of jobs and opportunities out there. Now whether it’s something you’re willing to do is another story. But saying “there’s nothing out there” just isn’t true. You may have to switch fields and swallow your pride, but there are millions of jobs available. Or you can always make your own opportunity by starting your own business. This is the land of unlimited opportunity. Get rid of those self limiting beliefs and go get it.

I had one like this also. I started in maintenance and drifted over to production. My “boss” acting as an interim plant manager started in production, same role as me, and had got this online engineer degree. He managed to talk his way all the way up to VP of engineering for the entire company. His first major assignment, he built an entire plant that never had the first customer. After 6 months, they fired everyone, somehow he didn’t. Fast forward a few years. They were millions over budget on a new project at our location. I was still just in production and they made a couple of us sit in a big corporate meeting. He lied and lied about stuff, saying things like “when I was in production, I did this and I did that”, throwing everyone he could under the bus. After the meeting, I asked him about it, and he lit into me, saying that day he’d find a way to get rid of me. Gotta remember, I worked with this guy and knew how he was. After about a year, he finally found a way to run me out. I resigned knowing it would come. In 7 years, they called several times about coming back, and I would tell them to talk to your boy. He would always block me. Then the day came the phone call came where they finally fired the dude. I learned he’d been demoted several times and at the end was just a salemans. From VP of engineering for the entire company to sales for our local plant. No one was sad to see him go.

It happens plenty. We offered a guy who accepted and then was retained. He was leaving because his boss “had it out for him”. We were thrilled to get this guy who we knew was a superior employee.
The owner of their company found out he was leaving and that the manager had told the employee, “Don’t let the door hit you in the arse.” The owner retained the employee by firing the boss.
If the owner had not been on his toes we would have gotten that guy. So shitty bosses do run off good performers sometimes.

For what it’s worth, this reeks of you not taking any accountability. I just don’t see how you were this perfect little angel made victim and didn’t contribute in any way.

Firing you doesn't (or shouldn't, at least) shield him if you can prove he falsified documentation. Louisiana is an "at will" state, but there are some exemptions. There's also a statute of limitations so you may want to at least have an initial consult with an attorney who specializes in wrongful termination claims.

”I got my dream job in May of 2022. My boss had purchased another company near bankruptcy, and I managed to reduce costs and bring the company out of the red.
I assumed responsibility for both companies when the General Manager left. The company was still fiscally fragile, so I did not ask for a raise. Despite this, the owner continued to spend and hire like crazy.
My responsibility was to keep our budget in check, but she made it impossible. Finally, in April of 2023, she accused me of conspiring with other employees on my off time-- to "bring her down", by cell phone, even though we were forbidden to communicate via cell. This was not true, and I worked seven days a week remotely in another state- approximately 70 hours a week. I barely had time to speak to my family, and I sure would not jeopardize my job this way.
I began looking for a job and found one fairly quickly that had a guarantee and was outside sales (I wouldn't say I like it) but the potential is there to make more.
I gave her the opportunity to give me a decent raise and bonus. I said if she did, she would stay. She gave me a 3 percent raise and a one thousand dollar bonus. I still made 4 grand less than the previous GM and my bonus was 3 grand less. Never once did she tell me how grateful she was.
I quit without notice 2 days later at 5 pm on Friday.
To do this was a big deal, as we work in an industry where we both know the same people. I've never burned a bridge in my life, but I truly feel she did when she accused me of going behind her back.
While I hate my new job, It's way better than working for her.”
