Tracking kids with their phone is weird. I have two teenage sons in high school and I don't track their locations.

not what he's saying.

he's saying penalize the kid someway other than taking a possession that HE PAYS for.
how does the school have the right to keep someone's personal belongings?

suspend the kid. put him in detention (does detention still exist?). etc.

My lord that poor boy. Not because his phone got taken away, because he’s being raised by a total beta.

IDK how a school can keep a kid’s phone for a week. It’s how we (my wife really) keep track of his location, how fast he drives, when he’s on the road…

He went to work out after ACT class night and my wife was a wreck until he got home at 9:30…that’s just day 1.

I guess they’re supposed to turn in their phone to the office each morning…and my son has not and does not…so yea, give him Saturday school or beat him, I don’t care, but it’s odd to take something we pay for and utilize for ‘safety’ purposes…to punish him.

Strange if something bad happened…and we couldn’t respond.

My god the horror of not being in constant contact with family members every minute of every day. I can't imagine how anyone ever survived with a camera in their pocket which can be used, under ideal conditions, to make a phone call on...

Parents did not know and for the most part did not care where their kids were. The only time it became an issue was if the parent needed the kid for something, like running to the store for cigarettes, of the kid had done something and another adult asked the parent about it. Our parents did not know where were, who we were with and what we were doing...and they did not care as long as we was home before it got dark or before curfew when we started driving. Most of us survived and thrived. Kids today are going to go buck wild and hawg crazy, as they say, the first time they get out of sight of mama and daddy....

Taking the phone is one thing, do they search through it for any incriminating evidence? CHS will do that, insane

You two seem addicted to helicoptering your child.

Because he agreed and signed a policy saying the school can keep the phone. Y’all that keep saying just go get the phone don’t realize or don’t care that to do that he will have to take his kid with him as he will be suspended possibly for the same amount of time the phone was gonna be kept. If getting the phone back is more important than keeping your kid in school you should probably stay out of any serious parenting conversations moving forward

This is the concerning issue. If he needs to be tracked and his speed is a concern a phone is the least of the dangerous shite he is faced with. He ought not be driving if that is a concern. If he needs tracking he needs to be locked down, not tracked. Where is he going and getting into that makes you think he needs you to know where he is all of the time???? That is troubling....

It’s obviously odd and really they have no right to keep it from you/him after school hours.

Because he's one of those cool guy parents that bought his son a sportscar instead of a beater shitbox.

If they track him as much as this thread leads on the kid is probably ecstatic to have his phone taken away for a week.

The airtag will only work if there is a phone in the car as well. The airtag doesn't have its own GPS or cell signal, it must piggyback off of another apple device in bluetooth range.

don't do this shite either. You don't need to know where your kid is 24/7 and they need to know they can function without mom constantly at the ready to un-frick them if they do something stupid.

He could borrow a phone if something happened . Makes me wonder what the KID did to get it confiscated. Maybe the kid is not the only one that needs to grow up!
