I remember what it feels and sounds like to pull the knob on a cigarette vending machine

Anyone else?
What if we were healthier overall back when more people
smoked? Maybe cigarettes were replaced with food and the population is now full of wheezing lardos.
Is there anything more annoying that someone who preaches to you that you shouldn’t smoke? Seals.

Still see those working in a couple bars.
Definite nostalgia value.

In high school I used to get cigarettes at the Kennesaw Waffle House. The machine was in the the first door (lobby) before you get all the way into the store. Some cavalier Tammy ran out to card me one time when I was 17, legal age was 18, I showed her my drivers license and she couldn't count and said "thanks" and we both went about our business.
I think her name literally was Tammy.

Yes. I also remember what it sounds like and feels like to put an 8 track tape in an 8 track player. And the sound/feel of FF, REV, and switching sides.

I have only seen cigarette vending machines in casinos.
And those are the newer kind with the wire screw like a chip machine.

Pretty sure we were buying a box of Marlboro Reds for $1.25 at the “Gator Stop” on Tunnel Blvd when I was in high school.

There were a few of them that would also spit out a book of matches at the same time.

Ten years ago third rock tavern in Kenner still had one of these. I can’t speak for today.

LSU Student Union still had them when I was there. Including in the pool hall and bowling alley where you could buy beer in yellow flower waxed cups and watch the Asians play turbo pong.
Bygone era.

The first time I bought cigarettes (at least for myself) I was, I think, 12 or 13. It was from a vending machine just like that one. It was in the cafeteria of Caraway Hospital in Birmingham. It was a pack of Vantage and cost something like .50 cents.
I say “for myself” because I’d already bought many packs for my mom by then. As early as when I was about 5 or 6 she’d stop at the store, hand me a dollar bill and tell me go in and get her a pack of Pall-Mall Gold, me a candy bar, but to make sure I bring back her change.
The world was far different in the 70s.
