I guess I'm an Old Fart... My dad had a grocery store when I was young. I remember when cigarettes cost 65 cents and the machine only took quarters. My job was to slice the wrapper of the cigarettes open an insert a dime. So, when you would pay 75 cents you would receive 10 cents change.

In high school I used to get cigarettes at the Kennesaw Waffle House.
Waffle House is the one restaurant that needs to allow smoking.
Nothing like a 3 am drunk trying to sober up All Star breakfast with coffee and cig

One time I was with my dad at some shop that had a cig machine with electric push buttons.
I was probably 5 or 6. I started pressing buttons and packs started coming out.
My dad got a kick out of it.

There were also snack machines with the same interface.

Tree-Fiddy??!!
50 cents back when, and occasionally 34 cents.
When I was kid at military school I could buy a CARTON of Camels for $2. TWO DOLLARS.
I quit in '88

Also no rewind. I believe he is referring to cassette tapes, along with the 8-track.

It didn’t flip. It just had 4 sections or tracks, with 2-4 songs in each section. To hear a song again you had to hit the selector again to skip through the other three sections so the section your song was on would come up next.
It made playing the same song over and over until you could nail the drum solo problematic.

I prefer the sound of the bell when you rolled into a full service gas station

Not only do I remember the sound and the tension on the knobs, but I remember when you only needed two quarters to make it work.
eta: I see Merits and Vantage at the bottom left. I don't think those brands even exist anymore. Those were my fallbacks if they were out of Winstons.

My dad and uncles would always let me get their cigarettes for them. I thought it was the coolest thing in the world
Anyone else old enough to remember going to the bar with your old man?

In the late 70’s, early 80’s at around 10 years old, my mom would send me down to the nearest 7-Eleven on my bike to buy her Marlboro’s.

I remember trying to pull the bottle out of these things after paying.
Sometimes they would get stuck and hurt your hands on the cap trying to pull it out...
MT Ezell's garage where I grew up had one, and you'd have to drink it there or bring to bottles back to him or he charged you for the bottles.
