I really do not want to spend 5k on a mattress, where should I be looking for reviews and other pertinent information.

I've also been looking at getting one soon. Most of the ones I like are between 1k and 1500. I was mainly waiting to see about Memorial day sales

Sleep Like the Dead

Use above link for unbiased reviews. I am happy with my Serta iComfort. What I like most is the adjustable platform which is worth every penny.

Tempurpedics seemed over priced but I guess they ALL are as we are talking about foam materials.

Check Sam's Club online for Serta items. They have a bunch of higher-end stuff that they don't carry in the store. You pick up from the club.

I've had a sleep number for about 5 years and it's been fantastic. A mattress is one thing that you need to spend money on man.

Splurge on good shoes and a good mattress, because if you're not in one you're in the other.

We bought a new mattress in October last year. After looking at all the stores around town, I stumbled upon a thread here on the OT that recommended the dumpy mattress place way down Florida right before Brian Harris. This place has legit mattresses for far less than you'd pay at a furniture store. They actually make them in the old Home Depot building up the road. The whole place is a shithole and you'll wonder the whole time wtf am I doing here, we did, but I had to keep telling my wife that the OT said this was where I needed to be and sure enough it was. I think the king ran me $1200 if I remember right. It was their best one, memory foam top, with box springs. They know their shite, don't be apprehensive just because you feel like you're buying an 8-ball and an underaged hooker. 7 months now and I couldn't be happier.

Edit: This is the place...

Seems like the ones on Amazon get fantastic reviews, anyone ever go that route? If I have to bite the bullet and spend the money I guess it would be worth it

I got a great almost brandnew king from Craig's list for a steal, & saw a lot of ads, from individuals as well as stores.

Tempurpedic Simplicity. It's amazing. Anyone who says they get too hot is a fatass.

It was like $2k

This x1000. I was probably one of those directing traffic to this place. I sleep on their top of the line and got one of their mid-range full sized for my 4 year old.

Everyone else can pay for the name brand and marketing budgets of the national brands, I'll stick to dealing with these guys. I tried every thing out there with no budget and just couldn't find something worth a shite until I found these guys.

And if you buy a King, it will take three grown arse men to move that beast.
