re: How bad are Reese's peanutbuttercups for dogs?
Posted by mworld938 on 12/26/23 at 4:01 pm
My daschund ate an entire Halloween size bag of Reeces out of my son’s backpack and nothing happened. Weenie dogs are indestructible assholes though. He also fished a box of Popeye’s chicken bones. I stared at his shite for a week looking for blood with negative results. He made it 17 years and d...

*Spencer’s Gifts
While technically still around, it’s a shell of its former self. In the 80’s it was a magical place to hang out for awhile during any trip to the mall. ...
re: Jacksonville County Sheriff TK Waters: "Guns aren't the problem, it is bad people"

He is a great Sheriff and worked his way up from corrections to the top. My wife works for JSO and loves working for him. Solid Republican too....

There are many good options, but an easy to use product is Helmsman Spar Urethane in the oil modified waterborne version. Good enough for front doors, treated as a water based product and won’t yellow or give you mold issues that happen with true oil based products. You can get at Sherwin-Williams...

In a little while from now
If I'm not feeling any less sour
I promise myself to treat myself
And visit a nearby tower
And climbing to the top
Will throw myself off
In an effort to
Make it clear to whoever
Wants to know what it's like when you're shattered
Left standing in the lurch at a chu...
re: How much of a PITA is it to paint an exterior of a house using a sprayer?
Posted by mworld938 on 4/24/23 at 3:46 pm
I work for Sherwin-Williams in Florida. You will be converting a maintenance free exterior to one that will require regular repainting. If you use SW products, I recommend Loxon Brick & Masonry Primer first then top coat with Duration or Emerald Rain Refresh. They are expensive but will greatly e...
re: Social Worker murdered by her client with an axe

Maybe she took an axe from a fire hose station? Some fire hose stations have an axe in them which would be questionable to have in a psychiatric hospital....

I took my family to that exact hotel on a cross country trip circa 1996. It was a great stay as we posted up in the tiki bar while the kids played for hours. I felt like a baller as I never experienced anything like that as a kid. It was definitely a “we’ve made it in life” experience....

I’m glad those places exist. I don’t want the people eating at those places invading my go to seafood places....
re: What is the best dog breed?
Posted by mworld938 on 1/13/23 at 5:59 pm
Definitely not dachshunds. That being said, I have three and they are awesome to have around the house. I can’t bring myself to foist them upon society so they stay in the house or fight , frick and hunt lizards in the back yard. Everyone that comes over loves them but they are not the best breed...
re: Any Flagstaff, AZ recommendations?

Cool town with lots of nice bars and shopping. We enjoyed The Annex and FLG Terroir Wine Bar. McMillan had good cocktails and a surprisingly good pozole that warmed us up nicely. I look forward to going back and trying some more places. Sedona is nicer overall but I really liked hanging out in F...
re: Looking at a potential relocation from South La to Jacksonville, Florida

My father in law has a house off Seminole Road he bought for 90k. It’s worth a million now lol. Thank God he has a disabled vet property tax exemption. We could only afford the Royal Palms area so we got a nicer place in Jax Beach and just golf cart it around. Atlantic Beach is far nicer than Po...

I retired here as it’s my wife’s hometown. Jacksonville proper kinda sucks in my opinion. Downtown is dead. Riverside area has awesome restaurants and bar scene with cool historic homes but no good schools nearby. St. John’s is the hot new area with big cookie cutter subdivisions and good school...
re: UK University Costs - For UK residents, cheaper than most private high schools in U.S.
Posted by mworld938 on 7/26/22 at 11:16 am
My daughters Masters from University of Edinburgh was cheaper and 6 months shorter than the same program at LSU. Crazy enough the rent was also cheaper than Baton Rouge. Student visa allows you a chance to work 20 hours per week so she could make some fun money....

I was Ireland 2 years into a Trump presidency and the two most MAGA people I met were immigrant cab drivers. One was Indian and spoke and carried himself like a doctor or executive and a Nigerian in full Kente wardrobe. I kept waiting for the Nigerian to start playing the Eagle’s Take it Easy to b...

Also why did his GI bill not cover the student loans?
GI Bill doesn’t work backwards. He attended the Ivy League schools before entering the Navy. His parents were working class. I assume most of his education was done on scholarship given the low loan amount for Yale and Harvard....
re: What’s y’all go-to tent for shade at the beach?

Another vote for Shibumi. They make a slightly smaller one for 190 That provides shade for 3 people and gear. I live at the beach and use it 3 times a week. Very well made with marine grade stainless connectors and snaps. One of my best investments ever. ...
re: Father Son trip ideas

Another vote for Chicago. My son is 26 now and still talks about our trip to Chicago when he was a young teen. Did the architectural boat tour, concert, museums, watched soccer games at a cool Irish bar, Sears Tower, etc. Easy SW airlines flight to Midway, then elevated train right to hotel. Str...
