I'm putting my money on cramps. His breathing will be heavy and uncontrolled as he tries to push himself. Shin splints are also a good choice.

You've at least got to download strava to know your pace. It'll feel good and smooth to start off at an 8 min pace, but you'll probably die after 3/4 mile.
Shoot for maintaining a 10 min pace. Power through. Profit. You will be very, very sore for a couple days after.

Well boys, this thread has been a blast. Whatever happens tomorrow, it's been fun. Thanks for all the advice. Just had my last meal before the race (and potential last last meal). Chicken breast and plenty of basmati rice.
