Where Corn Don't grow

When daddy turned and walked back in the house

He’s still around and one day a few years ago I apologized for ever doubting that what he was doing was for my own good.
About the same time one night by a campfire I told my son that one day he would get why I was so tough on him and that I wanted him to be better off than me and it had nothing to do with me but him.
He replied “ dad i get it and I’m glad you was hard on me growing up” at that point I knew he would make it.
“If your five minutes early then your late”
He’s still around and one day a few years ago I apologized for ever doubting that what he was doing was for my own good.

This is one I abide by less the older I get. When I was 20, I was 15 minutes early everywhere. Then 10. Now I’m good with 5.
If you’re early, you’re early. If someone has a bad impression of me because I’m on time and not 15 minutes early, let’s chalk it up as a bad fit, shake hands, and move on with our lives.
