Also I see you play lacrosse. Even if you feel great in 10 months and decide to start playing again playing I would take an extra 2-3 months and work with a sport-focused PT/trainer (definitely pay for someone legit, not a hack) to help you get back in "sport" shape and help you develop a new warm-up/exercise routine. We are not young anymore, this would help to prevent injury and slow performance decline.

Anybody know what to expect for recovery and surgery?
Call 1-800-Ask-Kevin and ask for "Mr Durant" and he will give you advice you seek.

I played various sports in adult leagues after my recovery (from age 33 to 40...I ruptured it at 32). My advice...play on grass only and wear turf shoes, not cleats. I'm sure you will be fine after recovery. Trusting it initially is the hardest part. Also, stretch religously...both legs. You are supposedly more susceptible to a tear or rupture of the other one. As noted, I tore my other Achilles so, at least in my case, that rule of thumb applied. Again, I can't emphasize stretching enough...Achilles tendonitis is a BITCH. Good luck.

It isn’t super painful but feels like I have a permanent Charlie horse in my calf.

Does not compute. Also, I’m glad that KD posts on the OT

I went the conservative no surgery route at 35 with a full rupture. My advice, if you intend on being fairly active again is to get the surgery. I read all the science and decided to try conservative. It was a longer tougher road and I don’t think it’ll ever get back to where it was. Just my 2 cents.

It felt like that looked. It popped and I couldn’t walk off at all. We were looking at it on the sidelines and if anyone moved my foot, I couldn’t move it back, it just stayed in the same spot. It was not painful at all, just really creepy to have your foot bent at an angle and not being able to move it back.

The pharmacy is finally open today and I got some muscle relaxers. Hoping that helps with the Charlie horse in the calf.

I’ve torn both of mine. Had to have a second surgery on on one because of scar tissue growing back so badly.

Ruptured mine when I was 17, not pleasant. I had a cast for six weeks and a walking boot with support under the heel that was gradually lowered to slowly stretch it back out. And an awesome scar

This x 1000!!! I’m not sure if they made these through my first 2 surgeries, but by the third I saw some guy using one and I was like “WTF, why didn’t I get one of those!!!”

Where do you live that has a base of men who have any interest in lacrosse and have enough people to make up a league?

Follow all of the doctors instructions. It took me 18 months to full recovery but I was 40 when I ruptured mine.
