I've had two Colonoscopies in the last 18 months and both times I was sedated with Propofol. Both times when I woke I was having a pleasant dream that felt like real life.

The first time I was walking shoulder to shoulder with my Dad (been deceased for 35 years) across a huge square walking toward a huge building. From pictures I have seen it was kind of like St Peter's Square.

The second time I was sitting on the grass and was playing with my dog.

How old are you?

Does that hernia hurt?

Yes you can.

The propofol is great. Best nap you’ll ever have, you’ll wake up feeling on top of the world. Almost giddy.

The prep, however? That’s another story.

It causes a little discomfort but no significant pain. The only issues it can cause are with stomach acid affecting the lining of the esophagus from GERD. The overwhelming majority of people who have it won’t need surgery for it. Chances for something like a rupture are very rare

Best nap I ever had. Woke up feeling like I had slept for 20 hours.
Second time I didn’t sleep as long and I didn’t feel as refreshed as I did the first time.
I can see why people get hooked on it. But I guess you keep needing more of the drug until like MJ you get too much and it kills you.

Prep wasn’t even that bad. Just drink small amounts at a time and try not to drown your GI tract

I had one about a year ago (2nd one) and the assistant (an 8.5/10) just said I might have a funny taste in mouth. Last thing I remember was saying "yep, there it is..." lights out.
This time I don't think I felt as good as the first one at age 50. It was like I had slept 24 hrs and woke up with no sleep hangover. clear headed. totally chilled.

why do they seem to have the hotties as assistants for this procedure?

God bless them for it

This doesn't happen to me. I wake up pretty clear headed. It's the 2 seconds during induction that I feel it.

I wish I had time to post my experience of being sedated nine days with a propofol / fyntanal drip.

Had one earlier this year. The two seconds I could feel the propofol were two of the most joyous seconds I’ve felt in 20 years.

I woke twice during the procedure. Actually witnessed the doc lancing a polyp on his monitor. Cool.

Can’t wait for the next one just for those two seconds.

Dude, you may have died on the table . . . twice.

As far as prep for the colonoscopy, ask for the pill prep not the liquid. A doctor who is a relative advised to take the pills. It wasn't pleasant but not as bad as other people describe the liquid prep.

I took the pills

My colonoscopy was scheduled for 0700

I took 12 pills at 6 o’clock the afternoon before and the other 12 at 2am, I didn’t sleep all night. shite my brains out

Got to the clinic at 0630 was still shitting

My BP was too high so they wouldn’t put the IV in my arm to sedate me until my BP dropped. It finally dropped around 11 am, they sedated me and boom we were done for lunch.

I didn’t eat or drink anything for over 24 hours. But that Propofol made it worth it
