How does an E-6 bubble head not have his fish? 
I though it was pretty much mandatory on a sub that you got qualified.

They go through school as E-4, pick up E-5 along the way. Then some of them get selected to stay at school and train other nukes. By the time they get to their first boat they're already an E-6... but get treated the same as a fricking non-qual E-2 or E-3.
That was one thing I loved about subs... it wasn't so much rank that mattered as whether or not you could support the watch.

True story...My first shirt at Tyndall AFB back in the day had a line # for Senior MSGT (E-8).
At his promotion party at the NCO club he imbibed a bit too much and got a DUI on the way home...Goodbye E-8, Goodbye First Shirt post, hello quick orders to Incirlik, Turkey.
Now THAT, my good man, is screwing the pooch.
