So the wife and kids and I were driving through the neighborhood looking at Christmas lights, and out of nowhere a giant owl swoops down out of a tree and SMACK straight in to the front of my truck.

I immediately stopped and got out and the poor thing was just lying there motionless in the grass. It was HUGE. I didn't touch him because I didn't want my face ripped off.

So I decided to drive off because there was really nothing to do unfortunately.

I was incredibly upset after that, and decided I had to go back by and do something.

Well, right as I'm pulling up I see him/her/they(?) standing in the middle of the road. As I got a little closer it jumped up and flew into a tree.

I guess it is going to be okay and was just stunned. I was going to be incredibly upset if it was dead because it was beautiful.

I hit an owl tonight.

You should have finished the job when you had the chance. An owl never forgets.

My wife was insisting that I should go pick it up and move it. I explained to her that if it is not dead it will disembowl me.

I had the same experience once. They get hit pretty often. Beautiful animals. You did right not to mess with them.

I’ve hit one owl in my life and that fat frick cracked my windshield.
Don’t try to pick them up. They’re quite irritable when injured. Doesn’t take long to lose good will when that fat bastard is clicking at you and trying to cut you with his claws (talons).

frick an owl.
