I have watched a few episodes, and it always made sense that they'd stop for fast food on the way to the pre-surgery visit... and order enough food for a family of 5.

Or how they deny eating like shite when they aren't making progress. I promise all I ate was celery and water! I don't know how this happened! Meanwhile, camera catches 6 mountain dew bottles and 17 big mac containers falling out of their van when the door opens.

They always have a van with seats removed so they can just take up that whole back area.

I've only seen one or two episodes because it's discusting. One of the women who was on her way to Houston for surgery had to have the fire dept. come and a half doz. firemen help her to the van. She had rarely left her home because she couldn't stand. The second episode followed this woman to a restaurant with her friend (also kind of fat), and every other sentence out of her mouth was how beautiful she was and she could care less what people think of her weight...ugh

how was the smell? I can’t even imagine

that was another part of the discussion, how do nurses/delivery people deal with the flab or safe delivery? some contraption to hold it up?

she told me “the broomstick method”… apparently the fatties hold a broom/mop/whatever under their flab and pull back to lift up so their partner can go to town

but for extremely obese they get friends/family to each hold an end of the stick to help pull the flab up. so there’s “enabling” and then there’s holding up your daughters obese flab so she can have sex enabling

I, personally, blame the show Trading Spaces for what has become of TLC.

Where do they get the $ to eat $100++/day in fast food? Then pay for the surgeries and staying in rehab clinics for months?

My husband and I wonder the same thing.

They are unable to work, so probably on Welfare, etc...

I guess we (our tax dollars) pay for them?

$900/month disability will not cover their fast-food costs let alone housing, utility and transportation expenses.

Oughta be a nurse in ICU and have to try and take care of them. It’s part of why I retired early(60).My shoulders were wrecked, last 2 years I worked I had to sleep in lounge chair and for close to a year after I retired.

I had several co-workers have rotator cuff repairs, had several more wreck their backs.

Up until year 2000 rarely had a 300 lb’er.After that we always had at least 1 300 +.
One awful week we had 7 300-450 lb’er and being a male I had to pull and help turn every one of them, multiple times a day.

They usually live with someone who is enabling them, either monetarily or by actually giving them the food.. often both. There's simply no way they can get that heavy and eat that much food on government programs alone and still afford to pay rent and stuff.

As for the surgeries and therapy and all, I assume the show has an assistance program.

The vast majority of them (if not all) suffered horrific personal trauma during their developmental years. It might help to have a little compassion for people instead of just shaming them. Very likely, they ARE disgusted by what they see.

The carb addition is stronger than crack.

Try to go a day without eating processed carbs. You can have whole food carbs, like veggies, but no processed carbs or white carbs.
