My wife and her sister are watching this shite. It is insane. Kind of like Hoarders…. We are all voyeurs to the severe mental illness of people who have no business on TV.

They showed this woman in the shower (blurred, thank God). And then I said, out loud, “She complains about being fat but I bet she’s about to eat a dozen donuts.” And then they show her sitting back in the recliner and eating a dozen donuts. I am fricking clairvoyant.

If you watch reality TV I just assume you're a moron. No offense to your wife.

Most of these people have spouses. Think about that.

Dr. Now is the man

Some of his brutal one-liners make the whole series worth watching.

Fun fact: TLC started out as a science education channel under the NASA umbrella. Somewhere along the way it all went badly wrong.

Most of them were the victims of severe childhood trauma of one kind or another. If you watch the person's intro and see what they went through, it's hard not to feel sorry for them, however they may be sabotaging themselves now. Food is their only solace, they often have family members enabling them for their own reasons. and even if they want to make changes, they're too far gone by that point to just hoist themselves out of bed, get on an exercise program and start eating healthy.

Pretty much all of them are incredibly messed up from trauma like sexual abuse as a child. It’s sad.

I enjoy the portion of the show when the patient has to move from their current home to Houston. It seems like they always live several days away via minivan. The travelers hit one fast food drive thru after another on their trip to Houston.

It’s pretty amazing when the patient takes Doctor Now seriously and they actually shed a lot of weight. It doesn’t happen often but still…

If you’re 330lb and watching this show, you feel pretty good about yourself.

Because nobody was watching, just like when MTV switched from music videos. It’s not rocket science - except of course when it actually was.

The people who should feel guilty are their enablers who keep bringing them fast food. They complain about their family member's weight, yet are the first to go out and get them Pizza or burgers when told to
