I hate stealerships

This past week the GF (no pics) ran over a nail and sprung a leak in one of her rear tires. I told her to take it to the boys at the local shop I’m familiar with to get it patched, but in her womanly ways she took the car to the stealership instead.
She called me at work Thursday saying that the service manager is telling her she needs new pads, rotors, and calipers on all 4 wheels because they are worn, and that it would be $400 for parts and labor. That would be somewhat reasonable had I not changed her rear pads just the previous week and if the car didn’t have only 26,000 miles on it
Also had a female coworker (no pics) take her VW to the stealership to address a check engine light. They tell her that the car is misfiring and needs a timing adjustment. I brought my code reader to work and pulled the code. Ended up being a bad mass airflow sensor which is probably the easiest repair you can do on an engine. Ordered the part for her and fixed it for her in the office garage in 3 minutes.
Stealerships and the people who work for them can go to hell.

Yep. I’m done with them.

That was service, not dealership.

You know what’s annoying? How many new cars don’t come with spares. I just got a new car (Chevy Cruze ) I called half a dozen local tire and/or auto shops - some mom and pop some big name franchises - and no one sells donuts. I’m told I’ll have to go back to the dealership to get one.

How much did they charge to fix the tire?

I’m lucky to still have an older guy who owns an old school service station near where I live. He runs and works it by himself practically every day (his wife helps him out inside when she’s not working). My wife picked up a tack in her tire last week. $19 and never any upselling. I’m gonna hate when he retires.

Dealership's service dept love to take advantage of the females.

If there are any Goodyear shops in the area most of them offer free tire repairs for any brand tire regardless of where it was bought. They do the internal patch of course just have to make an appointment and usually it’s done while you wait or at least it is at the one here. It’s a company wide Goodyear community service policy they provide.

Sounds like the problem here is women and not the dealership

A lot of new cars are not designed to carry a spare. Just gonna throw it in the trunk?

Not a woman, but I was shocked at how unprofessional the F&I guy got when I didn’t buy GAP on a car with 50% ltv

Yeah that was the plan
What’s really stupid is how much space the tire repair kit that took its place apparently needs.

We had a guy like that that worked on imports. We had a Nissan that the dealer wanted $2,000 to fix; he did it for $200.
Hated it when he retired. You knew he was going to fix the problem for a reasonable cost.

A bit early to be changing brake pads, isn't it?
