I hope you chewed their asses out in addition to writing this thread. And then instruct your gf that for tire fixes, go to any tire store and they will do it for $20. And if they refuse and/or give you some line of bullshite that the nail is in a spot where they won't patch it and the tire needs to be replcace, get them to walk you back there and show it to you.
The key to dealing with mechanics is that you have to be the alpha and you cannot cower down. You have to be ahead of their game, because most are shady as frick and are looking for a way to screw you to make some money.

I have a good buddy who was a service director for a large Nissan dealership In dfw
He would also tell me the shady shite in the biz. What floored me is he said he never had a year where he made under 200k. Said he got a piece of all the profit from his reps.
He finally got out of it because of the hours but he said the finance guys were the worst. Said he didn’t know how they slept at night.

quote:This is the truth. My wife deals with them in her line of work, and she can tell you some stories. For starters, a lot of the finance guys aren't that smart. They try to pull over some shite to send a customer off the lot in a car, but in their sneakiness, they are sloppy and too stupid to pull it off without getting questioned. And when called out on it, turn into douchey arrogant pricks about the whole thing. They eventually sell a car to somebody who completely bails out on paying a note, and the lender has to go through the hassle of repo, etc.
finance guys were the worst.
