I feel bad for them, but I also realize that they do this shite to themselves. I’ve just never found making good decisions to be that hard.

I did all the dumb shite kids do in college as far as partying, but never once did I think “you know what, heroin may be fun.” It’s incomprehensible to me how you can consciously do something that stupid

That’s silly. We’ve all had to deal with adversity.

But it’s also silly to blame a business for some combination of bad genetics, poor upbringing and dumb choices.

The alcohol is more than likely the real problem here. You should try to talk to him about that.

I think the root cause is an addictive personality, vice my change but with often the same result.

Probably stems from having a weak father. Not sure how you made it this far, but congrats I guess.
You sound like a pretty miserable frick. Good luck.

He needs to go to gambling rehab and he probably needs to have his finances taken away from him until he shows it was effective.

Addictive personalities are going to find their favorite addictions.

You can only hope they’ll find healthier addictions.

Sounds like it’s more than just an addiction problem. There’s probably something else driving self destructive behaviors. The addiction may be more of a symptom of a problem.

I had a good friend that never ever drank or did a single drug . Unbelievable person

Got in a bad car wreck and was prescribed pain meds. From that point on he was an addict and then it led to heroin

shite sucked to watch

Regardless even if someone kills themselves on drugs 100% on their own bad decisions, I don’t see how being “just honesty” to a grieving family is necessary Just keep some things to yourself when people are grieving. Empathy is ok to have you know

I like going to the resort part of some of the casinos, but man the actual casinos are some of the saddest places on Earth. There's the people like OP's brother, then the old people waiting to die spending their last time on Earth pulling a slot machine handle with the oxygen tank in tow spending what last money they have, the lights, the fake energy, etc. I've tried to get the appeal but I'm not there.

So congrats on having a well adjusted brain, likely solid background, and good environment man. I was fortunate enough to have a similar background. That's awesome.

You do realize that there are many out there who process shite differently, feel sensations/influences of substances and aren't as strong as you are though right? I have a very close friend who literally did not drink until he was legally of age at 21. Straight A's through high school, college, involved in a ton... He was then an alcoholic within 2 years. He eventually got his life back together but it took the better part of a decade and a lot of us stepping in.

Not everyone has that.

It's ok to not be a dick to people struggling.

Not really. Being an alcoholic or drug addict is a good idea exactly 0% of the. Making mistakes or a bad decision that has upside? Of course. But perpetual bad decisions that you know are bad decisions? Seems pretty straightforward. Obviously happens all the time, but I don’t understand it

Don’t ever play the Dragon Cash or dragon link games like Panda, Autumn moon, etc. These games are very high volatile games. The new huff and puffs, Dollar storms and Lightning links are even worse. Should play the old style double diamond games if you want a fighting chance. Best chance to at least walk away is to play older style games

As someone who has struggled with gambling over my life, it's a lot easier to say "Get tougher mentally" until it's you who is suffering from it.

I can't imagine my cravings and behavior when in the depths of gambling are much different than alcohol or drug addiction.

It certainly doesn't help that there is just an inundation of gambling-related content in sports media now. The "Draft Kings Desk" followed by FanDuel lines, then they cut to the action where BetRivers is sponsoring the arena, then a Bet MGM commercial. So you flip to ESPN where they have the ESPN Bet odds scrolling at the bottom.

I know it might be hard to understand, but it's very hard to struggle with gambling and be a sports fan nowadays. And I'm not saying there shouldn't be anything gambling related, but there has to be a happy medium here.
