The main hospital here has an issue with people breaking into cars in the patient parking lot. You’ve got sick people stuck in the hospital helpless while their cars get picked through in the parking deck outside.

Scum of the earth doing this stuff.

They didn't have to type in a PIN when they used the debit card at the register?

My thought exactly

Story sounds made up. You hear of debit fraud online because pin isn’t needed.

If you forget or don't know a debit card PIN, you tell the cashier to run as credit, then you scribble on a slip of paper. That's how easy it is.

Yep, some idiot hospital worker or a passer by. Camera's should show who was in and out of his room.

Unless it is a critical care unit, I wouldn’t get my hopes up.

There *are* cameras in the cafeterias etc.

I sure hope they catch the thief, and that good things come your way, we are praying for you.

I use a debit card all the time. Maybe 40% of the time it is ran as credit without a debit option. I usually try to remember that and avoid those places if I can.

This in no way makes the the OP's story sound "made up".

I tap the card 90% of the time. I don't even dip it and I haven't swiped a card in a very long time.

The vending machines here all take tap.

They are supposed to update me in the morning.

I've talked with so many advocates and managers and security.

You should use a credit card instead of a debit. Much easier to get money back on credit.

Yep. And credit cards you can set “alerts” for when they are used. I have mine set to $0.01. So every time it’s used I get a push notification or a text message.

Call the police….this kind of thing happens often in hospitals. With relatively limited number of people accessing rooms, I don’t know why this happens so often.

All you have to do to run a debit card as credit is press the green button on the card reader pad without saying a word to the cashier.

Well, it's only happened to me a couple of times, and I had already tried putting in the wrong PIN.
I don't use a card very often, I'm usually a cash money guy.

The card was taken from wallet I wasn't using it at the time. I do use my capital one card mostly and then pay it. I understand credit. Though I also use debit for certain things.

First there have been several requests for which hospital. Second the hospital doesn’t won’t the police involved because it looks bad for them. They use to do anything they could to get ER nurse not to call the police after they were attacked

No. I made a report with JPSO but haven't heard anything. They tried to use it at an Exxon today.
But it's off. Still pings my card manager app.

He definitely said it was East Jefferson.

I was too sick to call JPSO when my credit card # was used. I didn't want to deal with it.

The physical card wasn't stolen. I gave the credit card info over the phone to a Walgreen's employee the day I was being discharged.

It was bad enough dealing with BoA and changing autopayments. I wasntvup to dealing with the police.
