We are hoping. We are all still in shock at this point.
I understand...I went through the same thing at one point in life. I suppose the worst part of it all for me was the feeling of utter rejection from your company.
My advice is to take a few days to grieve the loss of your job if you need to, but get up as soon as you can and start taking care of the business of life. Don't wait for anyone to do things for you.

I had 18 years at my previous and got laid off. Really it was devastating, I liked my job, and coworkers.
It took me a month but I landed back on my feet with a better paying job out of the oilfield, better benefits, better work environment and I've learned a lot of new stuff and again I have some great coworkers.
Tough times dont last, tough people do, you will land back on your feet!!

Haven’t looked at anything yet. Went to work this morning like I have for the last 25 years and then BAM.
Best of luck, it'll get better

To the OP you’ll find a better job with more money and benefits next and In Short order. Consider this a blessing and enjoy your vacation time.

I appreciate this, this guy rubbed me bad the wrong way in this thread. I understand joking about stuff and all, but a guy getting laid off after 25 yrs isn’t funny. I get why people hate oweo.

Take a look at Graphic Packaging. They have a mill in Texarkana and just built a new converting plant in West Monroe

I guess I just don't understand this mentality. I watched folks stay around a year and a half to two years after I left, seeing the writing on the wall at my last job after we lost a bunch of projects.
They got good severance packages but were out of work so long they exhausted that money long before getting new jobs.

All the chemical plants and refineries in El Dorado area are hiring. A lot of Crossett folks already making the drive. Lockheed and Aerojet are going to be hiring almost 1000 people over the next few years. Not sure where your skillset would crossover the best, but they are dying for reliable workers that can pass a piss test.

I don’t want to hijack the op’s thread here but this is exactly right. Btw, I don’t know many people that have been anywhere 25 years. Loyalty is a virtue op so I have no doubt you will land on your feet. Best of luck
