I have not seen toilet paper at my grocery in six weeks. Went to Walmart yesterday and that aisle was bare.

I get the initial demand but after a month why the shortage?

Is there a new drug that needs toilet paper to be consumed? Is there a new secret society where the entrance fee is toilet paper? Maybe this is related the the Navy releasing the footage of UFO's.

My Walmart has had tp & paper towels the last 3 weeks
You can usually get bleach too
Only things not yet restocked are Clorox wipes, Lysol & hand soap

I don't really get it, either, but I think 2 things- 1) stores are getting their normal shipments, but need 2-3 times a normal shipment to get the shelves back to full, and 2) with the shelves being practically empty, that drives the feelings of scarcity, so people tend to hoard. Once I got my big pack (45 rolls), I quit looking. It will last us a couple of months, and hopefully we're closer to normal by then.

You need to adjust your buffer settings. You're a couple of months behind.

This. Every store I have been in over the past 4-5 weeks has toilet paper. Maybe not every brand and flavor but they have TP.

There’s probably tons of the stuff in a Sysco warehouse just sitting there gathering dust. Everyone is doing their business at home.

The ones in my neighborhood seem to only tropical scented lotion Suave. Must have been warehouses full of the one nobody wants.

Jan 2018, I moved into my new house. I bought toilet paper and put a few rolls in the vanity of the guest bath and put the rest in the vanity of master bath.

May 2020, and I still have plenty of toilet paper and have not purchased any since Jan 2018.

welcome to last month

the best explanation is people feared the stores would close so they couldnt buy anything. why that turned into buy every roll of TP you can find was a mystery

best excuse i heard was one person got a bulk pack of TP and the stupid mass of mindless drones assumed there was or would be a shortage so they created the shortage by hording it all. its a cause and effect kinda thing

1. You do not live with females
2. You poop at work
3. You do not have guests, visitors, or children

I read a few weeks ago that the issue for TP and paper towels is twofold.

1) With everyone at home, all bathroom breaks are occurring in home, not part at home and part at work/school

2) Paper goods manufacturers have two production lines, one for home (soft, pretty packaging, on rolls that fit your home dispensers, packaged for home) and one for commercial (less soft, utilitarian, tp on huge rolls, paper towels that are trifolded or on continuous rolls, packaged in commercial sizes)

Homes can't typically use the commercial stuff, and it isn't economically viable to switch the commercial production to consumer production. If they did, when things get back to normal there is a chance of a shortage the other way.

not so much any more, kinda a depends where you are thing

most stores have about 1/3rd the normal amount in the store but it goes fast so the day they deliver (tuesdays) and by friday its usually gone until the next tuesday

thing i find odd is i cant believe they dont have enough sanitary wipes that they cant put ANY in the stores. a worker told me any they get is held in the back for employees to use to keep their work areas bat flu clear
