I agree. There are still some great people still serving. People cherry pick articles about what some General or Admiral said and think it really filters down to the lower ranks, which it doesn’t. Been in 15 years and I’ve only met a handful that support Democrat ideology. Most are willing to fight and die for their country.
No one is buying into the mandated training. It’s a PowerPoint click through or stare off into space presentation. 99% of people care about being the best at their job and how to defeat the adversary (China, NK, Russia, and Iran)

And I strongly disagree with that assertion.
WWII came on the heels of the Great Depression and the war was a no-brainer Good vs Evil. You had desperate times and clear mission to defeat the bad guys.
So I agree with you.
Given similar circumstances today I would bet anything our 17-30 yr old American men would rise to the occasion.

The military strategy back then was as archaic as medieval times
Their strategy was to throw as many bodies as they could to overwhelm the enemy.
Who could blame anyone for not wanting to be cannon fodder.
This take doesn’t just go to millennials or gen z or gen X or boomers
No one wants to sacrifice their life to over take a beach or hill or any sort of military objective

You're 100% correct, but you're not going to get through to many people here, because this board has too many bitter old people whose self-image depends on shitting on younger people
The reality is that the WWII generation wouldn't have thrown themselves into certain death for the current regime either. Not nearly as many of them would sign up to be glorified mercenaries killing paramilitary forces halfway across the world to line the pockets of defense industries. And there is no remotely close equivalent today to a formal declaration of war and military assault on our home soil to compare the stuff of millennials and zoomers to the GIs.

US government: white conservatives are racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic and are the cause of all social and political problems in this country!

No thanks.

They have an emotional breakdown if someone calls them a bad name or if they hear words or read mean Tweets that they don’t agree with. You think they’d survive being shot at ?

Can you imagine the kind of pics you’d be able to get for the ‘gram by storming a beach? Yeah it’s risky asf but totally worth it. They’d do it.

Trump got 5 deferments. Bone spurs. Denigrated McCains capture, subsequent torture, and service. Called for a General to be beheaded. Asked "what is in for them?" about dead soldiers. He's an embarrassment.

I guess if you told a bunch of neck beards there was 10 cases of Blantons over that ridge they would put up a good fight.

I don't think even one would make it off the landing craft. They would be to busy looking at tic Tok or what ever else is on their phone.

My great uncle was in DDay - he was my great grandma’s favorite- a mama’s boy. Never made himself a meal, or anything. He made it through - to the battle of the bulge then to Poland
When I was really little my grandpa used to have to go find him bc my great uncle would wander around at night.
I think my boys could make it, too.
