You want the US to put you on the border of Ukraine or some shithole for kickbacks? Me and my kids lives are worth so much more than that.

Help yourself.

Put me on our border with orders to defend at all cost?

I’m sure the WWI vets thought the men going off to battle in WWII weren’t worth a damn and wouldn’t fight worth a shite as well.

This was actually a pretty common belief, especially in Europe and Japan, before the US entered into WWII. The Germans in particular thought American youth was soft and had been “ruined by Jazz music”. Herman Goering even said the only thing the Americans can make are refrigerators and razor blades.

Our son did 2 tours to Iraq and worked 3 years in the ME after leaving the military and I doubt seriously he would do so now given the lack of faith in the elected.

He loves this nation - served well - but a man knows his limits

I tend to agree. Things aren't as bad as what the internet would have you believe, but some of that nonsense is starting to creep into places it has no business being.

For instance I just saw a video the other day where a Army Cav company Lt circulated a memo saying that the fricking cavalry can no longer say "Death before dismount". Is that seriously what these guys should be focused on?

Few months ago I had a conversation with a retired Marine GunnySargeant. Two tours in Iraq, one or maybe two tours Afghanistan.
He was glad to have his pension but he said he wished he had done something else with his life.He said he came to realize it was all one big lie.

Made me sad.

WW2 was an attack on our country and the world. Of course it was thought of at the time, especially after Pearl Harbor, right to go to war. If that same situation happened nowadays no doubt our military would charge the beaches just the same. Morale wouldn’t be the same obviously going to the Middle East anymore.

I know military and being shot at is much much different than the fire service. But we still have 18 year old boys and girls that will charge right into a house fire without thought.

If I had to guess, the majority of tough guys in this thread saying "our young people are sissies/couldn't fight a war" never served their country and never fought in a war.

I did both in my youth and now my son is serving as an US Army infantryman. I know the popular narrative on the internet is to highlight the weirdo homosexual cross-dressers being allowed in the military today. But from what I’ve seen of my son and the guys he went through Sand Hill with, those freaks you see so much of on the internet do not represent more than a negligible handful not even worth mentioning. Your average soldier is still well trained, highly motivated, and ready to do their duty to their country.

A good friend of mine has a son in the Marine Corps. He’s a machine gunner. He’s cut from the same cloth.

So don’t let the prevailing narrative fool you. There’s still young men, raised right by good fathers and mothers, who are carrying on the family tradition of answering the call to defend this country.

Majority of the people shitting on this generation never did anything for this country. Never served in the military and made sacrifices for our country. I'm 34 and I'm considered a millennial. Joined in 08 as soon as I graduated and did 3 deployments as an infantry marine in Afghanistan. I was in a platoon full of guys that were computer needs, Obama voters, hood rats, farmers, and rednecks. And we all volunteered to be the tip of the spear and fight to keep our country from ever having another 9/11. Atleast that's what we were fighting for. So all you 50yr old chodes who shite on my generation. What makes your generation better than mine at war fighting.
