So, Sam, one of Joe's living children, calls the office, mad as hell. "Why do Mary's kids each get 1/160th of the property but I only get 1/40th?"

After a long discussion, he still does not understand that 1/40 is a larger number than 1/160.

You can't really blame that gal for that take. She simply doesn't have that many fingers and toes to do higher math.

Most people are lost when fractions and percentages pop up in the equation and you have to explain it to them like a little kid.

Tell this idiot that you baked 2 exact same size pies and cut one up in 40 pieces and the other up in 160 pieces, then ask this clown if he'd rather eat 1/40th of a pie or 1/160th of a pie then maybe he'd grasp the concept.

If not, give him 1/160th and pocket the rest as legal fees.

Oh, and unless you're talking about some REAL SERIOUS money, that is not a life changing windfall. Maybe a run to the store for a six pack, bread and cold cuts.

Math is racist. Stop trying to hold everyone to your white supremacy standards.

This is totally understandable if you have ever seen a young person working in a retail outlet struggle to make change.

Have you ever had something cost $5.50 (for example) and you give the cashier $11.00 so that you get back a $5 bill and the change instead of four $1 bills and change? 75% of the time, their head explodes, they stared at your blankly and then had back the $1 bill saying you gave too much without understand what you are trying to do.

A friend of mine was fired from being a teacher at a private school because she was a science teacher - however when her class was on measurements - she realized the kids (older middle schoolers) could not add/subtract/multiply, etc

So she taught them that - and was fired

After working at the LSU Math Lab, I was depressed to learn how many Freshman don’t know Algebra.

Reminds me of the old deal with a 1/3 pound burger. Back in the late 80s IIRC. Think maybe Wendy’s or BK did it as a competitor to McD’s quarter pounder. They ended up discontinuing it because consumers thought 1/3 was less than 1/4.

The left wing is well known for ruining everything they touch.

The left wing has controlled our education system for decades now.

Hence, many people no longer understand basic math

As long as our public monies keep going into the same old broken down system, things will never ADD UP.

Bruh, if he wants 1/160, give him 1/160

Then ask him what he wants you to do with what's left over. Maybe he'll understand it then.

Or just give him an actual number. He will be getting 160 a month and the grand kids will be getting 40.

This happened to me before UPC's on products became a thing. I was in a grocery store and they had a sale on cans of peas with them being 3 cans for $1.

I only get 2 and go to the register and the teenage gal actually asked me if I wanted to go get one more and I said no. She then said, "I don't know what to charge you if you only get 2".

So I tell her, charge me $.34 for one can and $.33 for the second can and it blew her mind because she couldn't understand how that worked. So I tried to tell her with 3 cans for $1 the store is charging $.33 1/3 a can but there are no 1/3's of a cent.

She just shrugged and rang it up------like she would be fired over a damn penny.
