There is plenty of time for passing out blame later on. No one could possibly have foreseen the events as they have transpired. Yes, there have been warnings for years, but to respond to a threat of this scale by stockpiling millions of PPE and respirators would have been roundly criticized.

Hindsight is 2020, should Louisiana have cancelled Mardi Gras? Yeah, right. If Trump had ordered all the stuff we need 3 months ago, he would have been accused of wasting money. People were very critical of Trump for closing off Europe and China just 2 weeks ago.

Everyone is doing all they can, Trump, JBE, Broome. My wife is sewing masks, I'm baking and cooking for people who need it, what are you doing to help?

Healthcare professionals are the heroes here.

Now is not the time to play the blame game.

Get behind your governor, prez, senator, congressman/woman, alderman, etc.

Giuseppe conte of Italy saw his approval rating soar 27 points to 71%.

Everytime a politician speaks, people panic and raid the fricking stores.

I will criticize and I will criticize heavily right now, thank you very much.

The movie Bambi taught me that if I can’t say anything nice, I shouldn’t say anything at all...

Houston floods, we know this.
For years when Kinder Institute ( Rice U for Urban research) support for spending money for the MAJOR infrastructure that would have mitigated flooding wasn't even in the top 10 most pressing issues. Crime Roads( potholes) was always up top

after Harvey we passed 2.5 Billion in Bonds, which now due to the drop in oil and the economic impact of this will most definitely mean a tax increase.

So even if you can anticipate something like this the will to actually address it is lacking

What scares me more than anything is how many people here on TD are either not taking this seriously or blatantly being assholes because they might be inconvenienced for a little while. I hope this isn't a window into how the rest of the country is acting.
What a crappy selfish society we have become.

Cherry picking predictions is pretty easy. I can tell you that for everything that ever happened, somebody predicted it, but they also predicted a lot of wrong thing too.

I'm more interested in seeing how they react when things get tough.

A lot of people have written books that FDR knew Pearl Harbor was going to be attacked, but let it happen, so we would get in the war to help Britain.

It wasn't cherry picking. Because of what Trump did, this was inevitable.

I know you won't read it, but the official who ran the pandemic response team wrote an op-ed for the wapo explaining what really happened. This is the same official who the dems called to testify against the president. In short, the entire dem accusation is bullshite. The office was not eliminated, it was merged at the suggestion of defense officials.

LINK

Furthermore, factcheck.com says your second link is also bullshite and a lie.

quote:

After President Donald Trump said, “I don’t know anything about” the disbanding of a White House pandemic response office, the Democrats claimed that he “lied” and pointed to Trump’s earlier remarks about “some of the people we cut” as evidence. But those remarks were in response to a question about proposed budget cuts — not the anti-pandemic team in question.

Agreed.

And there’s more who I didn’t vote for (and likely wouldn’t ever) making decisions critically affecting me than not.

Taking what seriously? It's not as bad as claimed, and it's not worth ruining people's livelihoods.

No doubt, but people wanting to be able to provide for their families isn't selfish.

I will criticize all day long. This Governor has effectively made me jobless. I will now not have a paycheck. Is he going to pay my bills. Put food on my table. No he is not!!! So I have nothing but criticism for him and all politicians who think this is the right thing to do.

I mean we had a couple hundred page thread on the front of the OT where your average Joe could recognize this was pretty serious. Why our leaders could not is mind boggling
