I would see people get on their cell phones as I passed them. Why? I don't know but it was clearly because I was going by them.

the trucker who was clogging up traffic is a dumbass and shouldbe ticketed, and you're a dumbass for agreeing with his wannabe vigilante justice. he's creating a dangerous situation for drivers behind him. speed differential is a killer on interstates. once you come to a stop, you are at the whim of the drivers behind you, hoping like hell they see you and not plow into the back of you.
just google "zipper merge". lots of studies on their effectiveness. you're supposed to use the full width of pavement provided before merging. it's more efficient, and more importantly, SAFER b/c you're reducing the speed differential.
nevermind, just realized you're a troll. in any case, maybe someone will learn something from this thread.

They have started doing that a lot. Pisses me off. It has been shown in traffic study after traffic study merging like a zipper is way more efficient that getting over in one lane miles ahead.
I have taken to going around the stupid truckers who do that.

really? Almost every time I've seen an interstate go down to one lane I see truckers do it.

Traffic flow between the LA border and Dallas is retarded. People slow down to 30 for no reason whatsoever. It took me 9hrs to get there a few months ago, and 11 to get back. No accidents or bad weather either way.
The only reason it took me 9hrs on the way there, is because after 2hrs of constant stop and go, I got onto that highway north of the interstate that went into town. I'm positive that saved me at least an hour

My favorite part is when you hit the Louisiana state line, I-20 goes from smooth to terrible.
Like welcome to our F'ed up state.

EVERY road bordering other states does thatfor Louisiana.
Texas/LA line? Yep, very noticeable. Even out here in the boonies the little 2 lane "hwy" has a VERY noticeable difference between road surfaces, drive-ability, and any measure one can conceive.
AR/LA is also quite noticeable. Mom is in Hot Springs Village and I have this place NW LA so am constantly back and forth. Can be day/night, sun/rain/snow, and immediately tell when the state line is crossed whether on the "new" I-49 or the old highway.
When Dad's family was active I'd travel the MS/LA line as the old family cotton farm and house are just a couple miles from the river. Again, day/night, rain/shine/snow, no need to even see it, can immediately feel the difference.
Also, Dad was Civil Engineer who graduated and the next day was working for the LA State surveying for the original construction of I-20 and then went on to be superintendent of areas of the North, and Central parts of the state in the 60's when a lot the base of the current roads were constructed. He was always in contact with BR getting demand letters issued to force construction to meet minimum specs. He used to tell me how at least half his time was spent on compliance with contract specs on the construction of roads and bridges. Reason he quit the State was going bald in spots and turning grey at age 30 from the stress. Bad roads and especially bridges get people dead and he was trying his damnedest to keep that from happening while contractors were only concerned with profit, not lives. Bad base = bad road.

Trashy?
What constitutes a decent stop during your upper echelon driving experiences?

TI.
People pull out cellphones around them.
Doesn't know why.
But it's because of them.
See if you were an actual TI you'd know they were keeping the spotting network up to date while calibration of the cancer Ray aimed at you continued.

The Whataburgers turn to shite too.
I went to a Wataburger in Shreveport and it took 30 minutes for every customer to get their food after they ordered.

20 can be pretty bad. Texas needs to 6 lane it all the way to Louisiana. I’m surprised they haven’t yet with how much they love road construction.

Not surprised this was posted by you. It's not about "cutting in line", it's about reducing traffic and using all available road dummy.

Why don't you motherfrickers just slow down -- without tailgating -- instead of thinking you have a special right to hot rod down the highway?
I mean, I know the reason WHY: you are spoiled brats who are habitually late.

You’ve never seen a trucker drive like they own the road? You don’t drive much, do you?
Cars should zipper merge at the merge point. The trucker was actually making traffic less efficient so other cars wouldn’t get in front of him.
