The key? Closing the on- and off-ramps at Perkins, which would create space on both sides of the existing interstate.
I understand this need, but this is really going to suck. Half the cars lined up in the morning in the right lane on Perkins are getting on the interstate at this entrance. All of that traffic will be funneled to Acadian and create a shite show.
I wish they could put an on ramp to go downtown at the Narin overpass. There is a ton of land right there owned by the school that isn't used for anything. But that may be too close the the Acadian and College drive ramps.

They are significantly widening and lengthening the on and off ramps for Acadian to I-10.
You are right though...this will put more left turning traffic onto Acadian right there.

They eventually want a deck park around that spot over the highway I think. I doubt there will ever be a ramp there.

Texas DOT knows how to write a penalty contract! I saw that on the NASA Road One Overpass on I-45...They gave the contractor 30 days to demo it and rebuild a 4 lane overpass...or they'd start taking money from the contract. Old boys knocked that thing out with time to spare. Money is a great motivator.
If they start doing that here, legislators are going to have a lot of pissed off brothers-in-law. Nobody needs that kind of vibe at Thanksgiving dinner. Know what I mean?

Correct, although there is probably still a need to widen I-10 from 4 to 6 lanes between LA1 and LA415.

Super Secret LADOTD Map regarding the planned improvements:

One lane each direction, on structure, urban construction, maintaining existing traffic, changes to 7 different interchanges, service roads, 3 different phases...that's a lot. it's not just adding 1 lane in 1 direction.
I swear. There are so many people who are just waiting to lash out with complaints without even thinking about how dumb it really is.

I agree.
The $350 million figure is more suspect than the need for 7 years.
There are two new flyovers, two new feeder lanes, and new interchanges...all while keeping I-10 open.

Welcome to the OT. We hope you enjoy your stay.
It's not unique to the OT. It's people in general. It's "LITERALLY" the equivalent of someone announcing that they have cancer and people responding "Get the doctor to cure it".

What's this? I hadn't seen anything about that in the plans they have released.

Deck park is a park that is built on top of a freeway.
It’s not part of the current project but I think it’s on BREC’s long term “want” list.

So something similar to what we have here over 366 (Klyde Warren Park).
Good idea!

Need to realize many of the posters here live in different states now and has seen projects of similar magnitude or greater completed in shorter time frame.
Houston is widening 290 and very complicated and will be done in a shorter time period.

I was going to point out how they essentially kept the entire north section of the DNT open while it was widened (which included new feeders as well as add-ons to overpasses) but I didn't want them to think I was rubbing it in too much.

And it only adds 1 lane.
Wont help all that much
Until the bridge is addressed traffic will still regularly back up to lobdell
Exactly. I-10 needs to be 3 full continuous lanes through that right turn to have any real impact.

At least a new bridge to the south. That would solve almost everything by itself.
