I-10 Speed Trap

So, this morning I began my usual commute to B.R. on 1-10. I could not help but notice that St. Martin Sheriff, Becket Breaux, Henderson, LA mayor, Sue Dupuis, and Henderson police chief, Jared Johnson have begun a traveler "shakedown" by having 5 "officers" (really tax collectors) in a 5 mile stretch, pulling over travelers in a overt money grabbing scheme, disguised as a "safety" initiative. These people are totally out of control. Travel to any other state and you will not see anywhere close to the amount of police shaking down travelers. Everyone should boycott all businesses in St. Martin parish since they have decided to generate revenue by police harassment. Sorry for the rant but Louisiana sucks in so many other ways, why do we have to be know as the speed trap state. Peace.

how bout don't speed?
I was in nola on 1-10 last weekend. i was cruising at 8mph over the speed limit, and people were flying by me like i was standing still. no enforcement whatsoever. really a safety concern.
I like to have some enforcement. keep up the good work st martin.

On the interstate, where the speed limit is 70? I'm not sure you know what a speed trap actually is.

I just texted Becket and he confirmed they are profiling and pulling people over at random for no reason.

Isn't there a law now that locals can't write a ticket for less than 10 MPH on the interstate? Only Troopers?
I think that's a thing.
I think that's a thing.

Investigating serious crimes is a money drain on law enforcement. Investigating traffic offenses and misdemeanors is a revenue generator. Anyone who thinks law enforcement isn’t both keenly aware of that fact and behaving accordingly is kidding themselves.

Drive through there all the time with cruise on 79 and dont get stopped
If you are going 90 you deserve it
If you are going 90 you deserve it

Yes, this is what basically ended the I49 speed trap in Washington. They can write a ticket but if it's less than 10mph over the limit all the money goes direct from to the state. They can keep the money if it's 10+ over.
Washington was writing tickets for like 73 in a 70.

It's the LSP that rustles my Jimmies. Gambling was supposed to make Education in Louisiana the best in the country. In typical Louisiana fashion that went as expected and LSP takes a nice chunk of the Gambling profits.
Despite being funded by Gaming $$$, LSP is still on I-10(Troop A and B) between Siegen Lane and 310 every morning, collecting money from the actual working class MFers on the way to/from work.
LSP should be abolished and the employees assimilated into local law enforcement agencies.

A few years ago westbound at the end of the Atchafalaya causeway saw the cops stopping speeders. It was St. Martin police en force and no others.

Can’t stand when local police are patrolling the interstate.

Sounds like the "marshalls" from St. Mary Parish on Hwy. 90 between New Iberia and Jeanerette.

cruise control is easy thing to use, set it 4 mph over the speed limit and leave it there.
you arent getting anywhere any faster no matter how much you speed, unless your on a 300 mile long trip

On my way home from work on Monday they had two BRPD officers shooting radar on Brightside and then two St. Gabriel officers shooting radar on Hwy 74. End of the month boys!
