LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - DOTD has confirmed that a photo of a large crack in the I-10 bridge making the rounds on social media is fake.

Tammy York with DOTD says, “I spoke with the lead bridge inspector and there’s no crack on the I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge like the one in that photo.”

KPLC sent a reporter down to the scene earlier today and took a photo of the bridge which we compared to the fake version below.

Hate to burst your bubble, but that’s a real Sasquatch.
No one has been able to debunk it.

I imagine the weight of all the truck nuts travelling on that bridge each day takes a toll after awhile.

Do people really have to ask if this is fake?

Is the bridge open?
Well then there you go.

Obvioulsy those cracks are photoshopped....but look around a bit at all the steel thats rusting..rather severely.

When i see all the other needless projects hoing on along interstate, i cant imagine a human in charge of ANYTHING thinking that bridge isnt the top priority repair, in front of ANY project in America.

I like how they send someone to take a picture to show it is let fake, but they take the picture from 100 yards further and make it difficult to actually see the proof.
Difficult?

Y'all are fricking idiots if y'all believe this photo.

I drive by the exact support mutiple times a day and it is not messed up. I do civil engineering for concrete & steel rehabilitation for a living. The bridge is perfectly fine. All those fear mongering are idiots.

Does it need to be rebuilt, yep but not because it's about to fall down. It's because the exists into Westlake and LC suck and back traffic up. It's because it's way too steep for an interesting bridge. It's because there are no shoulders.

Structrually the biridge is fine
