He could have killed him in Texas and gotten away with it.

OP, you should fix title to say he killed him. He didn't just beat him, he beat him to death.

If the plaintiff rolls in the courtroom in a wheelchair, you have already lost. Dead folks can't testify.

if I sat on the jury I'd be more than happy to acquit.

Shiiiiit this is a tough situation. I mean no one is going to blame the guy, but then again he was a "would-be" rapist since he didn't actually rape the guy's wife.

He also attacked him in the hallway once the guy had been forced out of the room. Was it wrong in my eyes? No. Was it illegal and manslaughter? Probably so.

ETA: The guy committed manslaughter and it really isn't debatable. Does he deserve some intense punishment for doing what I think many of us would do? No, I do not, but you can't go around distributing vigilante justice like that without any repercussions. However, I'm not going to lose sleep over the loss of Mr. Nash and his career criminal background.

ETA.2: I misread the article and thought he had been convicted. He has only been charged with manslaughter.

That's what's so messed up with our country/world.. Why can't we look at this with common freaking sense. This dude should get a reward.. He should receive 2000 dollars and a chance to do it again once this guy heals up. I bet if that was the case less people would rape and more people would be looking harder for the rapist and kicking their asses to get that reward.
Edit: the guy died... Give him 4000 dollars since he won't get a chance to beat his arse again.

No one here wouldn't do the exact same unless they're a little bitch (that's probably 50% on here).

Only difference with the most on here is the body would never be found.

That guy's head would've been in pieces if that was me. Sometimes you just don't need to stop.

Hopefully Darth sees this thread. Tire iron wins still.

Eta: Nash looks like Dave Chapelle's long lost twin

Jury should acquit him on whatever charges are brought. Props to this guy for ridding the world of the rapist (since when is PIV sex required in this PC world to qualify for official rape???)
