Problem with that is they’re no different than any other news channel. They are paid thru advertisements, they’re not government/independent.

I don't know where you live but in South Florida most of the meterologists look like contestants for Miss America Latina. I'd rather get my information from the channel that employs the former director of the NHC here in Miami who happens to have a doctorate in Meteorology.

Seems you could find better use for these than traffic signals

They did this with generators in South Florida after Wilma, they also had to station a cop 24/7 with the generator to ensure it wasn't stolen.

You certainly are free to watch an enterprise that makes their money off of views versus government agencies with way more expertise and tools. I was just pointing it out. My climatology professor hated TWC and he has a doctorate too

My goodness

The only people that should be worried about a west turn are the people between Fort Walton and Apalachicola

I think we got a solid Cat 2 here.

Let's see what the plane finds.

Pretty moist there on the NW side. Dry air probably not much of an issue anymore.

Your gif of Idalia is not altogether dissimilar to 1969 Camille’s satellite presentation coinciding with her dramatic pressure fall.

Idalia seems to be showing a rapidly constricting dense circular mass (albeit absent clear eye) almost like she’s winding up faster than the outer bands can keep up.

Surely this sort of rapid intensification isn’t forecast for Idalia?

Hurricane hunters just made their first pass through the eye. Their initial measurements of the eye put the storm's pressure at 979mb. That makes it a Category 2 storm if those readings hold up.

They should drop some buoys with cameras in them so we can see what it's like on the surface of the ocean way out where this thing is passing over.

I got 970 extrap on pressure.

Not a huge fall. NW side still ain't built out based on those winds. Organization takes time.

972-971 based on the drop.

I have a stupid question about the hurricane hunters:

Do they fly ‘over’ the storm? Or fly straight into/through it?
