With all of that in there, you just tape it up and put it on the curb. No amount of Clorox and baking soda is going to neutralize that smell.

A week before Katrina hit the crab run at PAC was bananas. I had two gallon jugs of crab meat in my freezer. It took me forever to shell those out. That smell you don’t forget.

It is going to get interesting out here this afternoon. I work in downtown St.Pete and it was pretty quiet yesterday.

I am well inland in Hillsborough County. I told my boss there was no way I was crossing any of those bridges today or getting anywhere near I-4/I-75 today.

How heavily populated is the area this thing is heading? Other than Tallahassee which is a bit further inland don’t know much about that area.

It's hard to find nicer places to boat, paddle, fish, and hike than the St. Marks, Aucilla, Econfina, Suwanneee, and Withlacoochee rivers.

The forgotten coast/big bend area is about as unpopulated as it gets on the Florida coast. A whole lot of undeveloped forest and estuary down there. Cedar Key is a colorful little village of about 700 people in a small group of islands. I fear that it could get wiped out if this thing is strong enough.

Watch it shift gears exiting Cuba. It blows out that outlow band on the west side and immediately starts to wrap up. Like it just shrugged off the shear that had been nagging it.

You can see it on IR, too.

Looking at maps it looks like it’ll be still a TS over GA/SC. If on vacation out on St. John’s Island/Kiawah area SC, any thoughts on impacts?

Very compact storm. Seems uncommon for GOM storms the last few years

I wonder if Idalia will keep up the trend we’ve seen where rapid intensification basically continues all the way up until time of landfall.

There are 2-4 ft storm surge projections there. And it will be during king tides

Ocean Heat Depth

It should track East of the GOM with the most fuel. But of course it’s moving so fast it may not matter.

How much west does this need to push for us to get a day or so of rain here in SELA?

The cold cloud tops are really starting to wrap around the center on IR. Big blow up in the last couple of hours. Looking decent from what you can see on Key West radar.

My brother and I are supposed to do a 10 mile paddle down the Wacissa River which is gorgeous. Crystal clear and no real development. It's pouring down south of Tally now. Sigh.

Can I assume that my weekend trip to St. Simons Island is going to be mostly ruined???
