I’m so glad we haven’t had anything seriously threaten us so far this year. I however do miss the back and forth banter, the real time info from our resident experts, and the much needed humor to take your mind off the impending shite storm. I’m the only person in my family or my circle of friends that reads TD. They are always amazed at the accurate info I’m able to feed them from here.
My best friend that lives in BR still talks about how I told him within 30 minutes that the water would stop rising at his place during the big flood. That was because of a hydrologist that was posting on here giving up to the minute reports. This place really is amazing sometimes.

Why was May hotter than July and August then?

Different weather patterns.

In May, a High pressure system was parked over Texas keeping a lid on the gulf moisture and preventing afternoon thunderstorms, without showers to temperatures were above average. In August, the weather pattern flipped and a frontal boundary has been stalled across the gulf coast increasing our rain chances and helping to lower temperatures.

Weather happens whether you want it or not.

There is no mysterious George Bush Hurricane steering machine and no amount of human CO2 emission reductions that will alter the weather. Our ability to reliably look back at previous weather events only goes back so far. There are ways to extrapolate data using ice cores, fossils, sediment deposits, etc., but things like daily temperature data only go back 100 or so years depending on location.

It was June when we had the three weeks of high pressure parked over us…

I live in the very dead end of my neighborhood and always get fricked when it comes to power. Because we own so much land between the neighborhood it's about a mile stretch connecting to the main negihborhood they always say frick y'all we'll connect the rest peace out. They get power like 1 week later and in Katrina it was about a month for us. Ida they get power in 2 weeks it took them 6-7 weeks to give us power back due to running out of transformers. Main problem for us is on that long mile stretch no customers other than us and it's loaded with trees so ANY trees on the line and we fricked. Ida certainly harvested that problem here though. It literally looked like woods trying to go down the main road. Now they don't have a tree 50 ft. from the powerline on the entire road. Wasn't at the house when Ida hit but no doubt several tornadoes carved my road up. You could tell by how the trees were twisted and thrown. You can see the emptiness around the powerlines that looked like a tornado alley decided it would take one path and harvest. Took me almost a week to cut back to my house since I didn't have much help. Can't count how many 100ft. pines I had to cut a path through just to get the car in there. frick. That.

I hope we don't for the rest of the year. As saturated as the ground is, even a decent tropical storm will cause some major tree problems.

Yep GFS has had nothing in the last two runs. And nothing near Houston or Louisiana since Friday, I believe.

It’s now a matter of whether the development RDS and Duke were talking about earlier will spin towards the Carolinas in 10-12 days or become a fish storm.

And now GFS hasn't shown the "major hurricane" he made a big video about in two runs. But everyone commenting still says "Thank you and God Bless. The only weatherman I trust!!!"

I've flagged his videos as spam and YouTube won't do anything to them.

It is the same thing over and over and over. He never goes back and comments on how shite his "forecasts" were.

Having a named storm in August is going to be close. Models are splitting on how quickly 91L develops. Some still taking until Thursday or Friday. 91L still has a huge swath of high shear to go through. But bullish trends are starting.

I would say no to 91L being named in August. It’s going to be ripped apart the next couple of days.
