Always, but can't blame it on the storm.

We’ve been posted up at the pool on back of the Lido since a it 8 AM. I’m knee deep in Lloyd Clark’s “The Battle of the Tanks”, which is an outstanding volume's covering the Battle of Kursk. And Hadji is keeping the drinks coming. Currently, we’re sailing through a thunderstorm, so they’ve temporarily closed the pool and we’re having to stay under cover. Seas have picked up a tad bit, but nothing more than to make the pool water slosh a bit more than usual.



It’s already starting to slack off while I typed this out. Looking toward the bow (right side of the photo) I think we’re heading to more clear skies, at least for a time.

My only gripe on the charts is that it becomes like a game. The meteorologists give you the coordinates that you see on TV and you play along by plotting the storm on a paper map that you have folded up or you put on a push pin board.

The radio would give out the hurricane's coordinates too. When I worked at the shitty finance company, I'd snag a Channel 4 Hurricane Tracking Map and plot out any storms. It broke the monotony of an otherwise soul-sucking job.

When we got back to the office after Katrina weeks after we had evacuated, the tracking map was still on my desk with the last plotted point on the Friday before the storm hit.

This sounds dumb but, if I’m parked at a FL/AL beach condo this week, should I move the vehicle to higher ground? It seems the parking lot is the lowest spot around here.

Not the Phoenixes but I can see the trash at Flora Bama from here.

Thanks, just used to having to move vehicles in Nola at times.

At what point does this thing get named? What is the trigger?
